• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

jl audio speaker pods for spyder!!

Wow, they are looking great!! And yes, Bondo is your friend when working with fiberglass.

I made these with fiberglass... they were for my 2003 Grand Am SC/T, one of the cars I sold to purchase the Spyder.

nice job!!!
those gotta be much harder than some half-ass speaker pods:2thumbs:

Yeah, they were tricky. I worked on them off and on for a few months before I got them right.

The speaker enclosures I did were a lot easier.

Can't wait to see your finished product. :2thumbs:

almost there!!! it looks like it has glossy finish because of flash but it's flat black with little bit of texture like tupperware to hide imperfection.
i went with simple one amp and 2 6 1/2" set up this time but better bigger and better quality speakers.

WOW, that was fast! Those look fantastic! :2thumbs:

it took may be 1/10th of time than my first set and like 1/3 of material but rest assure, they still are half-ass done.:D but it's ok. this is all the time i was willing to spend on them. to get the surface perfect, it was gonna take a loooooot of time. in time it will get dirty and hide the imperfection, i hope. :2thumbs:

Either way, good work. Hey, I see you're in Vegas. Maybe we could hook up while we are out that way? We're riding the Spyder down to Sedona at the end of August and will be staying a night in Vegas at a friend's house.

And if you're feeling froggy you could do the ride with us down to Sedona. :doorag:

It would be Friday night, the 27th of August and Saturday, the 28th.

You would also be free to crash for the night of the 28th at our timeshare before heading back... it's a 2 bedroom condo. We could do a ride through Oak Creek Canyon.

Maybe we could get a little group together?? Who knows, the possibilities are endless. :doorag:

Wow, you are moving along very quickly with this project. Looking very good so far as well. Can't wait to see the finished product.

i decided to make a half ass pods so it moved along quick.:D
plus experience i got from making first set helped also.

well it's done.
they did not come out too good but that's all the time i wanted to spend on them. there is a a still a chance i may be getting a 2010 RS and in order to look more integrated, i have to mold the pods on to the tupperware and i did not wanted to do that. it's hard to tell on pic but finish is terrible... may be on the next ones, i will actually take time to get a smooth surface to paint.

Well the pictures must hide a lot because they look pretty damn good from over here. Good work. :2thumbs:

camera adds 10 pounds and hides nicks and popped air pockets of bondo.

i went for a ryde and the thing i was afraid of did occur.
because i don't have riser block anymore, i had to make this pods 3" lower or further away from me because i don't have the clearance for handle bar.
now even thou these are better sounding speakers, i don't hear them as well as last speakers once i start picking up speed. 3" made such a big difference...

The secret for the pinholes is glazing compound. Fills the holes, dries quickly, and sands easily. Get yourself a tube and you'll be much happier.

Wow, if that is half assed then I could not imagine how good of a job you could do if you took your time with it. Very sorry to hear the 3 inches makes that much of a difference though.

more pinholes popped up after i was finished with primer. perhaps, i did not wait long enough for bondo to settle...
at least i got tunes now. it was painful ryding around without music as spyder now is my only ryde.

i will try that scotty.
