• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. sub woofer and amp in the frunk
for those who are not familiar with jl audio, they make high quality audio systems and pre-formed speaker pods for a lot of different cars and atv and high prices to go with that.

i don't have them:D
they just went into production and eta is mid may, according to tech support at JL audio. i am guessing about 800 bucks for just what you see.

JL audio's speaker pods with a single subwoofer are usually $600+ but still less than half the price of custom made. they have complete system consisting of kick panel speaker pods and subwoofer box and speakers for polaris atv and that cost to $1200. that does NOT include an amp.
most likely, speaker pods for spyder will be about half the price of custom pods.
custom fiberglass pods are expensive... i talked to a custom stereo shop last year and they wanted 950 bucks for just the pods, no speaker... that's why i made them myself the first time and will be making them again.

i just came back from homedepot with supplies and there was a interesting find. home depot stopped carrying the 6" pvc pipe i used last time so i was looking around to find a suitable replacement and viola!!!
it's like these things were made for 6 2/1" speakers i got!!!
i know in pic it looks like it's larger because speaker is taller and its seating higher than that thing but outside diameters of speaker grill and that thing are IDENTICAL.
it's a very good base to fabricate pods around it.

I wish I had that kind of creativity, and ingenuity, to make my own stuff. Instead I am one who will almost always have to pay retail for the things I want.

Yes very creative! Beats spending a rediculous amount of money.:2thumbs: Please post a finished pic once you do this project.

spyder is taped up and ready for fiberglass.
i know i am making a mess... more sanding and grinding later.
yay!!! :(

Ahh.... I love fiberglass! I made a few custom stereo/speaker set-ups with fiberglass... one for my 944 and another for my Grand Am.

Can't wait to see where this goes...........

it's beginning to look like somewhat other than pile of fiberglass :cus:
now comes the hard part... getting the surface smooth enough for paint. bondo is your best friend when you don't have much skills with fiberglass:D
i opted for crinkle finish to match the tupperware because no way i can match anything else on spyder. even most car audio places that makes fiberglass pods farm out the painting.

last pic is what i get for using cheaper masking tape. fiberglass will melt adhesive but this did not happen when i used blue masking tape. luckly, adhesive residue came off easy when i rubbed it with my finger.

Wow, they are looking great!! And yes, Bondo is your friend when working with fiberglass.

I made these with fiberglass... they were for my 2003 Grand Am SC/T, one of the cars I sold to purchase the Spyder.
