• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Jacking points

I see by the workshop manual that there is a center frame. Is this the only place to jack up the machine ? or are there other points that are safe. Installing baharon sway bar and need some altitude..........

Let's see..!!

it is the best point. You can run it up on car ramps but some models need to be 24"'s high. Don't know what you have to work with. Some have run the roadster up loading ramps attached to a pickup truck...I use this....

Good question. If you use ramps for the front, where do you lift the rear with a floor type jack to get all three wheels up at the same level (like for an oil change)?

IF...you place a block of wood big enough to span the metal tabs that hold the rear shock bolt ....you can lift it under that....BUT DO NOT PUT THE JACK ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SCHOCK EYE ........This will bend the bolt and it won't come out without cutting it off.......Mike

I have the same question. Mike, I don't suppose you have a picture you can post, do you?

Thanks

...Sorry No...But it's pretty self explanatory ....if you look underneath in front of the rear wheel...you will see the bottom of the rear shock absorber.....It is held there by two metal brackets and a bolt that goes thru the " EYE " of the shock......the wood block ( a 6" piece of 2x4 ) has to span the tabs ( so they will take the weight ) when you lift the jack up.......Mike

If you want to use ramps you will need 3 of them,2 for the front and 1 for the rear. Use your reverse and back the the Spyder up the ramps until it is where you want it. Some have had stops welded to the back of the ramps so there is no danger of going too far.

When I perform my first oil change, I'm thinking of putting the rear on a ramp, then jacking up the front to get it level.

Why use reverse? Just curious. :dontknow:

When I did my first oil change I ran the front wheels up on my ramps and pulled both drain plugs. I let the oil drain for a half hour or so during lunch. When I refilled the Spyder with 5.0 qt of oil, ran it up to op temp, two cyclings of the fans, and checked the level it was right where it was supposed to be, at the Min line. Once the oil pressure light went out I knew I had good lubrication and backed it off the ramps to fully warm up and be on level ground for checking. No need IMO to get the rear wheel off the ground for an oil change.
