There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Jack/lift for the RTS

Has anyone tried a motorcycle jack on the RT? I'm looking for a good jack that will allow me to lift the Spyder to work on, detail, etc. I have a floor jack but can't lift the entire Spyder.

:doorag:

The RT is a little tricky to lift because the back is so heavy. It can be done be you almost need two jacks.

Jacking up an RT

I use a combination of car ramps, motorcycle jack and axle stands to hoist my machine off the ground for maintenance work.

First I drive the front wheel onto the ramps and then use the motorcycle jack to lift the whole machine to the desired height before placing the three axle stands in place. You can forgo the ramps, and simply use a 1500 lb motorcycle jack, but I like having the ramps in place to assist in the hoisting process.

Jack up one end and put support under then the other end.

For quick work, I find the center and jack up the entire bike but for more involved stuff, I jack up both ends and put support under the A arms then move the jack to the back.

:agree: It is also wider in spots, so it is hard to get some motorcycle/ATV jacks all the way in to the correct place, at the right angle. I also prefer to support the front with jackstands, blocks, or ramps, then lift the rear.

I have lifted it with my PitBull motorcycle lift. It's been awhile & I have no pics, but I don't recall thinking it was unsafe.

Thanks!

Thanks for digging that out. Perfect shots. I'll pass onto some of my new Spyder owner friends.

I thought I would bring this topic back up. While working on the RT yesterday I decided to jack it up and change the oil. I was surprised how easy it jacked up first try so I decided to take some pics so I can get it right next time and to help you guys out.

My jack is a 1500lb aluminum motorcycle jack that I bought at Sam's Club years ago. At the time I only paid like 80 bucks for it. The outside measurements of the pads are 13.5" if you're looking for one to use. I would say wider would be better but this works good enough to get it on the jacks. I put one jack under the rear shock and one under each a-arm when working on it. It not a good idea to work under anything that is being held up with hydraulics.

This has all 3 wheels about 8" off the ground

As you can see I have the rear pad lined up with the footpeg.

You can see here where it hits on the frame. You don't want to jack on the exhaust.

Excellent, thanks for the updates!

Picked up two sets of jack stands Sunday:bowdown:. Hunting now for the jack.
