• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

J&M CB Antenna Upgrade Kit

Anyone try this?

J&M 40-ch CB Antenna Upgrade Kit for Can-Am Spyder RT.
This is a complete J&M CB antenna upgrade kit for the Can-Am Spyder RT touring motorcycle.

Included in this kit is a replacement brass mounting block that has been machined to fit in the exact same spot as the factory antenna block, but with the correct sized and threaded mounting hole, to allow the industry standard CB antenna staffs to fit, and to properly conduct RF transmissions from the CB antenna coax, all the way thru to the antenna staff itself.

Many of the Can-Am factory installed CB antennas improperly insulate the antenna staff from the brass mounting block, causing high SWR and poor CB transmission capability from the Can-Am CB radio.

This new kit from J&M includes a pre-tuned, (no SWR tuning necessary) 3’, top-loaded CB antenna staff, replacement CB antenna brass mounting block and complete installation instructions.

You will be impressed with the instant improvement in your CB transmission distance and sound quality to other riders in your group.

Installation is a snap, with normal hand tools.

Wondering the same thing .. nice thing is if you wanted to go to an even higher end cb antenna looks like you would have a standard connection with the kit.

I didnt see on his site and was too lazy to call and there was no sales email address...

i have already shared some wealth with custom d. for the breaklight and running light module ;) when I first got the spyder ... no complaints with them.

Well, I recieved the antenna update kit, just two days after I ordered. However, I tore my bicep tendon and now I am down for the count. :banghead: So I just sit here and stare at the box wondering if it would make the CB work better. :dontknow:

Well, surgery is not until the middle part of Jan. So, after the holiday, I will pop some pain killers, take the arm out of the sling and give it a try. Its like not being able to unwrap a Christmas present till April and thats not going to happen.

I would call in some help and see if you could direct, if it wasnt a 4 hr flight, I would drop by and help.

Gee, Steve, I am sorry to hear you need surgery. Best of luck with that. Let us know how it goes.

Well, the R&R took about an hour and half. The only problem was my failure to remove the brass bolt holding on the brass mounting block before separating the outside painted skin. I broke the middle plastic hook and at $140 for a new one, it will stay broke. Now, if I only had someone to talk to see if the TX or RX is better, that would be great.

I wish you were closer, I'd love to help test the system. I'm interested in the same upgrade.

Also, this may be too late, but there is some EXCELLENT plastic glue that welds ABS plastic stronger than new. I've used ot to fabricate broken tabs. I've used it on my RT to repair a broken spear on a panel that fits into the grommet on the frame

The guy I used ride with sold his Goldwing trike. Hey, please give the name of the glue. I saved the tab, I will just take it apart again. However, it's pretty solid as is, but I know it will bug me if I know I can fix it and don't. I blamed braking the tab on my pain killers.
