• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

It's That Time Again

NancysToy

Motorbike Professor
We're headed off to Vintage Motorcycle Days at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in a couple of hours. This is an annual event for us. This year is kind of special for me. For the last several years, Nancy has taken her Spyder for daily transportation. This year she is taking her new (old) Honda Cub 50, so I get to take my own Spyder. That has presented some challenges. The RT bags cannot be removed like hers, so I couldn't tuck the front wheel of the Cub up beside it in the trailer. I ended up loading the motorcycle sideway across the trailer near the back door. It weighs next to nothing, so that should not cause a problem with the tongue weight.

There is no schedule as to which companies will have demo rides available at VMD this year. The Spyder trailer has been there the last several years, but BRP doesn't show any demo events on its calendar, either, so I don't know if the Spyders will be there or not. I hope so, the demo rides were very popular these last few years, with the schedule filling up within an hour or two, for the entire day.

We will be working the bike show area Friday and Saturday, and camping at the track (in the heat...UGH!) If you come to VMD, look us up. There are over 30,000 motorcycles there each year, but there won't be many big red Spyders. It is a great destination for a ride, if you are in the area, but come very early, or be prepared for traffic jams and some overheating. Hope to see you there!

BTW, no connectivity at the track, so I'll check in when we get home.

Drink lots of water!

Nancy looks like she is going to have a great time putzing around the grounds on her Cub. :2thumbs:

My thermometer got up to 104 F at VMD:yikes: then it rained like a SOB and the temp dropped to 77 F by the time I got home, wet and cold.:(

Bootie and I did finally hook up. Mid-Ohio was grueling experience this year. The heat just sucked the life out of you. Look what it did to this poor guy!

Working on the show field all day Friday and Saturday did not help. The rain at dinner time each day did cool things down for sleeping, though. Went to bed at 11 PM Thursday night and it was still 94 degrees in the trailer.

Very disappointed that there was no BRP demo trailer there. That has been very popular the last three years. They were not alone, several manufacturers that are usually there were also absent. BRP no longer has any demos listed on their Website, so maybe they have discontinued the program.

Only saw Bootie and two other Spyders the entire weekend. There was one other notable three-wheeler.

Attendance seemed to be down, as were the number of vendors, food vendors, and swap meet sellers. I hope it was just the heat. This is a great event, and a great facility, and I would hate to see them wither and die. I raced at this track in the Sixties, so it is very special to me. This was the last place I tried to roadrace. I quit after I fell in practice there in 1968. Here is the return of my 1961 Honda CB92R and I to the track in 2002.

The Spyder is perfect for getting around at this event. No worry about parking pointing in the right direction so the kickstand works on a hill, no need to put your foot down in trafic stops, and easy to haul chairs to the infield to spectate, tires and parts from the swap meet to the trailer, and a cooler full of welcome cold drinks.

3-Wheelers

Hey Scotty,
Are you certain that you didn't forget to mention one class of 3-wheelers?:lecturef_smilie:

:opps: I never got free to watch a single race, including the sidecars. They ran one more time after you shot your pictures, but we were loading up. I guess I should have specified "civilian" three-wheelers. :roflblack:
