• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Was Having a hard time getting my spyder out of storage because the guy running the place put a couple cars in the way.

Well after some calls, and not taking no for an answer, I got the bike this morning.

Only live 4 miles away, and when I got home it was leaking gas bad. :yikes:.

Let it cool off for a while and started pullin pannels. I took the cover off the airbox, and what a mess.

There were acorns and some sort of styrofoam packing crammed all over the place. :banghead: I hate mice...

I'm guessing the restricted air flow messed up the fuel injection and caused it to pump too much fuel. :dontknow:
Bike ran great, and no more fuel leakin after cleaning the airbox out....

I think the sytrofoam was the bag the backrest/sportrack came in. It looked like the same stuff. This crap must have been in the airbox before I put the bike in storage, so I guess I need to check the airbox every
week to make sure the furry little rodents dont make the air box their home.

Kinda surprised there isnt screens on the twin tubes the driect the air into the airbox.. I'm thinking a mod is in order!!!

It's home!!!!

I had the same problem w/ garden tractors and boats. I swear by mothballs--lot's of them--in every nook and cranny....and around the tires.
Hope there's no more damage !!
I'm headed to Klinger's in Walton next week to retrieve my machine--will see Bob tomorrow for my ins card :2thumbs:

ya my equipment always gets unwanted tennants. Ihad checked the airbox 3 weeks before putting the bike in storage, and it was clear. Its possible the storage facilty had the same styrafoam bags i had, but im thinkin the little rodents moved in when it got colder out befor storing for the winter.

Tell Bob I said hi.....

hey guys try steel wool. we use it up here when we park our travel trailers away for the winter, have never had a mouse problem using steel wool. Just a thought save some clean up in the spring.

ya might need few hundred pounds...lol if the dam cats did there job, i wouldnt have this problem...

If the cats did their jobs, nobody would have invented rat bait. :roflblack:

So very true

Our cats catch a mouse outside, and bring it inside, still alive now, and let it go so they can watch the dogs go ballistic tryin to catch the dam thing.
Cats sit back with a ***** eatin grin as the dogs destroy the place...

If the mice got into the airbox, there's a chance that the little :cus: got deeper into the system than you'd care to imagine...
Be careful and very thorough with the cleanup... Good Luck!
(Lost a snowmobile engine once; they built in on top of the piston once they got in! :gaah:)

Some of the styrofoam was poking out the sides of the air filter, but very little made it past the filter. There were no acorns or other crap
past the filter near the throtle body. Although there was the dredded oil in the airbox issue. The oil had the few peices of styrafoam stuck in place.

Headed to the dealer today to get a air filter.

Got mine down off the storage lift today, mounted up a couple of new tires on the wheels I got from Marilyn. Mounted up a new size I don't think I have read about anyone using, and so far so good. Need to make a cone for my balancer for these wheels as I can not with the standard cone. So I took my first ride of the season today in a mesh jacket, 2 weeks ago I was in snowmobile gear riding in Ontario. Crazy weather. So the riding season has started in the northeast.

It's about time you boys got them out. It's only been riding weather since the end of January. :doorag:

I too get excited when I see another Spyder on the road. :2thumbs: Make sure you request a couple of days off for Americade.

That's good news Rob....getting your :f_spider: out of storage! Not such good news about the rodent issue tho....we have a constant battle with them, I check my 'trap line' daily, the cat will conceed to eating one occasionally but the real killer is Remi our Golden Retriever....she hunts way better than the cat! :yikes:
