• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

It came home Saturday

I made two promises to my wife: 1) I won't bring the Spyder home and tear it down and have it out of commission for several weeks adding all of our stuff; and 2) I would take her on a long ride the day after we got home.

I built, wired up and set up for installation all of my personal accessories so that when the Spyder came in I would be able to do most of that stuff at the dealer (Speed Sports). Got a long list done and with a few items still to do but the big stuff is done. See list below.

Second, Micki and I took a couple of hours and rode Sunday in the rain and it was the most enjoyable ride in the rain we have ever had. The Spyder performed flawlessly, the wind and rain protection were great except a little blow back behind her helmet that caused water to seep down her collar. The wind, trucks and slick roads were just plain fun.

We'll finish the rest of the Spyder projects over the next week or so and than wait for other adds from our favorite Spyder hardware suppliers.

Some of the RT mods: HID on headlights, LED Hornet Deer Alert with switch, Stebel Horn in place of the stock horn, turned the fender and side bag reflectors into LEDs, separate fuse panel and relays in the front trunk, integrated Valentine One radar, 2 Powerlet outlets installed for driver & passenger, front and rear trunk BMW power outlets, Clearwater LED driving lights (1-watt each) with switch and light intensity control , special Glove Box switch panel for all major personal accessories, interior LED lights in the trunk/side bags/glove box/under seat, Kisan Charge Guard, Kisan Path Blazer on the fog lights, mud flap lights that are running and brakes lights that are integrated with a Rivco modulator, Safe Alert modulator on trailer license frame, adding power outlet and lighting to trailer interior, Kewl Metal driver footrest brackets and Kuryakyn widow foot pegs, etc., etc.:D:D

Waiting for Kewl Metal, ESI and others to ship some new RT items they are producing.:yes:

BTW, my long-time friend Bob is a fantastic at wiring and doing accessories for bikes from auxilliary gas tanks to cameras and recording systems, lighting, etc... He lives in Livermore, CA, and if you live in the area he helped tear the Spyder down and we installed all of the above listed stuff. He can be reached at: [email protected]. We call him "the farkler" and he is well known in the BMW Adventure and K12 Groups as "Just Bob."

:thumbup::thumbup: I'd love to see pics of the other mods, especially the fusebox location.

More photos tonight of fuse panel

One word of caution - had i known what I know now i would have put the fuse panel on the left side under the grill area - lots of room and wouldn't had to do so many extra connectors and running the 40amp line and marine power connector to the front trunk. On the other hand it is very hot there and you have to take some body work off to get to it.

This project was expensive in another way. I used 38 Deutsch 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8-pin connectors and several 2-pin Amp connectors across the bike to connect everything. The Deutsche connectors are more expensive up front but you can take them apart and replace wiring and pins and most other connectors don't work as well.

The good news is that one switch in the glove box controls all of the power for all of the non-Can-Am accessories and I only pulled signals from park, low, high, left and right signals.:2thumbs:

I had a 10-page build list and 5-page connector detail list done before we started the project. It's the reason our race team used to call me "The List Meister." :D:D:D

To Lamonster - yes we pulled a Lamonster on it.
