• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is your Spyder your primary mode of transportation

I don't know what BRP's customer support arrangements are in the US but here in the UK my RT-S came with 2 year's Europe-wide Mondial breakdown/recovery cover free. That, plus 2 year's BRP warranty, has a potential value equal to a small fortune.

In short, if the RT breaks down 1,100 miles from home, say in Spain or Latvia, I would be inconvenienced but I would not be left to deal with the problem myself. Because we tour in Europe a lot BRP's breakdown cover was a big selling point and we are delighted to have it.

Just wondering;
If you do have a breakdown in Spain or Latvia, And its lets just say you need a Main- Shaft and Sprocket replaced, Do you still have to Wait 3 weeks for parts?

Well, day 14 and still nothing. We were led to believe that another part had been overnighted to the dealership but, nope. No part today. It wasn't overnighted after all. One trip cancelled.

By the way Bone Crusher, I was just reading a thread about Corbin Customer Service and you say you won't own anything from them due to 'horror stories' you've read about them. And "for all the cash you're spending and the lack of customer service, it ain't worth the headache...

I don't understand some of the companies around here that have such poor customer service...don't they understand that word of mouth reputation rules? Some companies are far better than others!!"

How is your opinion about Corbin any different than mine is about my Spyder? Not trying to start a 'war' or anything. Just asking.

I understand your point...but maneuvering around an aftermarket part is easier than replacing the whole bike you're buying extra stuff for.

I honestly wish Carlo/BRP would get on your case and right you ASAP. I really do dislike hearing these horror stories. I know the vast majority of us don't have these issues, and it's easy for us to lob opinions...I'm sure if I was in your shoes, I'd be really frustrated and unhappy.

I hope someone gets it right with your bike so that you can renew the love you had for it when you bought it.

You may be right. But while it's happening to you it is often sooooo hard to keep your frustrations under control. Buying any vehicle is a big investment and if it all goes wrong and doesn't work as advertised you end up feeling helpless and you want to hit back. Bottom line is they've taken your money and sold you a crock of sh*t. A situation like that is a tough one to deal with in a calm and rational way. :(

I can agree with this...I think BRP needs to do more to 'right' people when they're out of commission for an extended period of time. If they more so act like they care, people won't develop the anger/frustration...

The bottom line is it's anger management. People rightly get pi**ed if they feel badly let down, be that by an individual or a huge corporation. I KNOW I do. :( But I'm a pussy cat if I feel somebody gives a damn.

No, as travellers it's better than that. They will recover the trike, rider and pillion passenger back to the UK. The trike is delivered to the dealer of my choice and we are taken home.

How long the trike is out of commision is then dependent on the usual factors, including availability of spares, dealer workshop loading, etc. Getting the trike fixed takes as long as it takes (who knows?) but the important thing is that while we are waiting we are back home and have the use of our car, etc.

I'm with you on that 100%!!

The sad thing is with a $30k machine the consumer deserves better than what some have received. I have my fingers crossed that I do not end up broken down for weeks at a time. If lemon laws covered them I bet there would be less feet dragging.

I ride my:spyder2: a lot and it is my primary transportation for trips during the riding season.

I have two other vehicles--a Subaru Tribeca SUV and a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 LTD.

I use the Kawi as a commute bike (40 miles round trip daily) and do some longer rides when I am not two-up.

Subaru is mostly parked all summer--maybe a 1000 miles between May and September. Its a 2007 with less than 40,000 miles on it.

I am not afraid to take :spyder2: on long trips. It has never let me down in the 17,000 miles I have ridden it. I also put 22,000 miles on my 2008 before trading it in--no road problems with that either. Ex's spyder has 20,000 miles and is still going--with no problems on the road.

None of the spyders has been in the shop for more than 30 hours at a time--overnight a couple times because they did not complete the work in one day.

I have complained about dealers many times that hold a bike hostage for weeks at a time. That is just wrong!:gaah::gaah::gaah:

With the kind of money that owners spend on :spyder2:--they should be treated the same as car dealers do--fix it and get it on the road. (I know there are exceptions--but that is generally the rule.)
