• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. sold my hummer H2 about 2 months ago .... i live in NH and my spyder in the only way i have to get around ...
anybody else?

Yes and no.
I sold my car and traded in my motorcycle to buy the Spyder but between me and my wife we have one car so I have possible alternate transportation.
You live in NH, I live in Northern MA, same snowy climate.

I use the Spyder 90% of the time.

No. I'm not that die hard of a biker. Plus there are days it would be impossible to ride the Spyder to work on snow covered roads. :yikes:

Yes, and I ride in the winter (this is my first winter on my Spyder).
When the weather is really bad, like snow storms and such, I'll take a bus. I find the comfort and power and control of the Spyder awesome, and you can't beat the trunk for cargo space. It's going to be great for everything from picnics with my girlfriend, to commuting to/from work (with laptop in trunk), to getting groceries, to adventure riding, solo or two-up.

I love my Spyder.
Cheers.

The Spyder is my main ryde...

...as long as it's not icy or miserable rain. The only time I drive my Mustang GT is when I need to haul something that can't be bungied to my Spyder (golf clubs, etc.)

Speaking of groceries, I just picked some up, put 'em in my trunk. :)

Today, I'm cooking some homemade pizza and I picked up; oregano, tomatoes for homemade sauce, basil, fresh mushrooms, red onions, green pepper, pepperoni, and of course, cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. I also picked up some milk, bread, hot sauce, a couple other things for the kitchen. I also grabbed a couple things for the garage; 2 cans of rust check and general purpose cleaner (to help me clean my spyder after long runs on the salty winter roads - I will not go out when it's snowy or icy though).

Cheers.

Throw on some GIVI hard cases and you can really start to shop rookie!

Yes my spyder is my only form of transportion. Unfortunately I am waiting on a DSP replacement to arrive at my dealer. So I have had to bum rides from my wife.

:roflblack: You're kidding, right! :roflblack: OK, I am not the norm, with some 30 vehicles around here. Turns out they're mostly summer rides, though. When my truck was in the body shop, I had to rent a car. How embarrassing! :opps: Couldn't ride the Spyder...we got a foot of snow the day after I took the truck in. Hopefully we'll see pavement on our street soon, though. You are one hard-core rider, Jamie!

I would like my Spyder to be (nearly) my only mode of transportation, but the steering hasn't been right since mid December. 4 weeks in the shop and it's going back in this week. I'm hoping it will be ready to ryde by this Sat.
Until then, it's my Subaru WRX Sportwagon. I need to keep my Subie anyway because I also own a 16' kayak. The kayak looks strange enough on my wrx, couldn't imaging it w/ my :spyder:!:joke:

No way... The Spyder is my fun toy...my SUV is what I use day to day...my convertible is for summer rides with the wife as she won't get on a bike. My dog loves the convertible as well.

I ride in a group now (well, Spring to Fall) when I get a chance and also use the Spyder for errands and trips around town (such as going to the gym).

For those who ride in the snow, have fun...I prefer to have a cage around me as getting creamed while on a Spyder woudn't be too great and the Spyder is not made for snow riding...for that matter, being on a highway in below freezing temps is simply not any fun for me. I like to be comfortable, not freeze my tail off...

When it gets warm, I'm on the bike more...I think there are many good reasons as to why there are so many more bikes on the road in warm months than in the winter...it feels so goooooood to ride with some heat in the air.

For those who use a Spyder for primary transportation, more power to you. It would be great if you never needed to buy or move anything of any size...for that matter, forget family trips...also can't take golf clubs on a Spyder with ya. Different strokes for different folks...guess that's why there are so many different vehicles on the road...something for everyone...I love my Spyder, but it could never work for me as a primary vehicle. It is a heck of a lot of fun to ride though...can't wait for Spring...I have 3 feet of snow here in MD and it's freezing...won't be on the Spyder for a while...can't even see cars at intersections as there is about a 5-7 foot wall of snow all over the place...the thought of being on a bike right now is quite frightening and would be very dangerous.

They used to be our main transportation (we had one vehicle as a backup) but when our work schedules changed and the Spyders ended up in the shop for an extended period, we had to buy a second car.

It's my main ride if you don't count my 10 other rides. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I just don't have the time, weather or young bones to have any bike be my only ride here in NY.

Just not into those -5 degree mornings with the ice ans snow like Tatt2r is. :yikes:

Sucks to get old! :(

Time once was i used to only have a bike and a "winter beater" that I only drove when I had to. Now seems I don't get anywhere near the time to ride like I did then, but have 7 bikes to do it on. Go figure? :dontknow:

The hubs on my truck have been locked since December. Use 4 wheel drive almost every day. Hooked up the horse trailer yesterday and had trouble getting it moved. Impossible to be my only vehicle here in NY.

In the summer it is. I ride it to work and some times grocery shopping, depending on what I have to pick up. In the winter up here the roads just stay covered for too long, especially side roads, like the one I live on. When I'm not on the Spyder I'm in my 2003 GMC.

With the salt and and sand they use on the roads here i'm sure it would it would shorten the life of the Spyder,as well as cause much grief waiting for replacement parts.A fairly $$$ investment to wear out so much sooner or wipeout sooner, plus I couldn't imagine jumping on it at 20 below and commuting to work 60 miles each way.Besides I have a MXZ for the winter fun.:ohyea:

My SM-5 is pretty much a novelty ride. I have a bunch of Moto Guzzi motorcycles that I enjoy, and am active in MGNOC. Still most commuting is done in a cage, except when weather permits. And here in Central PA, weather hasn't been too permissive lately... We've gotten 34" snow in the last 10 days, salt and cinders all over the roads.

time to tar and feather Al Gore and his ilk.

Depends what you mean by "only transportation". I also own a 14 ft Zodiac with a 25hp Merc. My wife owns a pickup truck that I borrow to do chores or haul my boat, but mostly she drives lt.
