• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. 998cc Is too much Engine cooling harmful? Should the engine heat up more?

I just got back from the Austrian Alps. It's a regular winter there. I used to ride in a hot climate so I leaned back the side panels to cool the engine better. Now the temperature gauge showed one to two cubes from the bottom. Is it better for the engine to heat up more? Is too much cooling harmful to the engine?

I know a engine likes to run on cooler days it always seems to have a little more get up and go, more responsive. With the right weight oil in it, I would say, rock on!!

So you think it's better to underheat it than to have it work at a higher temperature?

Your Thermostat will determine what the temp of the engine is. ..... As long as you have enough coolant in the system, it shouldn't be a problem .....Mike

In Spyders since 2014, additional snorkels have been used in the side panels to cool the engine. The thermostat is not a cure for high cooling during low-temperature driving.

Do I think it's better to run cool, yes, to a point. I would love to see two bars on my gauge year-round. Will I go out of my way to try to get that, heck no! These bikes have been out there for a few years now and there driven in all kinds of weather and climates. They have the systems installed to handle whatever we put them through. Sooner or later, you got to stop reinventing the wheel and get down the road, ride more worry less!
