• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is this too much?

I've got a 2009 SE5 and have had, aside from the license plate cover falling off (thanks Roger!), no problems. But, after reading all the stuff folks have had to deal with, I am concerned. I live in Germany so my dealer here, who does not speak English, should be able to handle this at an inflated price. I love my ride but am seriously thinking of selling it as am afraid it will become a money pit; tire issues, suspension, installing stuff. Need some feedback on this one. Thanks

For every problamatic thread you have read I would venture to say there are at least 10 and perhaps more who would say that they have not experienced these problems. I've found that people are more vocal when things aren't right viz a viz than when they are.

Please don't interpret what I just said as meaning that these folks have not had problems. I'm not questioning that at all. I'm just saying that I'd wager there are many many more out here that haven't.

Just my two cents.

One great thing about this forum is the ability of everyone to discuss the problems and the best of :spyder2: issues. Yes there are problems, I had to buy my own DPS unit to replace the faulty one and I have no dealer to go to. However, if you bought a spyder for its looks firstly and secondly its unique driving experience, I think you will always be looking for that again if you sell your bike. What's the alternative,, a convertable,,NOPE, a regular 2 wheeler is good, but maybe you should consider a cheap second motor, just in case and enjoy the time of 3 wheels.

How many miles and hours on the Spyder?

So, you have ridden ? miles and have only lost a license plate cover, but are concerned something more expensive could happen. Maybe, yes or no.

I am not at all sure about what or how the Spyder service network is set up throughout Europe - so I have no idea how good they are either. Not many of the foreign riders post here - but the few that do don't seem to complain and whine as much as we US of Aers do about problems about service. Maybe the service over there is good ( our equivalent of CowTown ) or maybe Spyders hold up better in Europe or they just don't whine and fret like we do.

I am with Mouthpiece, I believe the great majority of Spyder owners do not have any major problems and are out riding and not posting. I will add though, I think the Spyder is on the expensive side for service costs - and because of the complex electronics, doing-it-yourself on some things, just is not going to work out.

While you seem to have read the posts on problems, I do hope you also followed the advice given by others and went for the extended warranty. It works and pays off in peace of mind.

You never know?? I went 4,300 miles from Oct 09 till 17Jun 10 with no problems!
Since then its been in the shop 6 Weekends in a row!!:gaah::cus:

The only real solution is... TWO Spyders!

When one's being worked on you can ryde the other :joke:

Honestly tho, they do cost money to own, like any good toy. Completely worth it, like any good toy. :)
