• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Followed lots of discussion and order a Altima rt 43, 215/60/15, removed old tire to find out its a 225/50/15. Did I screw up or will this tire work, thanks.

That's fine!

The 215/60R15 Altimax is probably going to be about 1/4 of 2/5's of 5/8th's for a bee's whisker taller than the OE 225/50's, and maybe a smidge narrower too; but all up, beyond the improvements you'll discover from moving to a 'better' tyre, it'll probably just mean your Speedo reads closer to accurate. You could probably even fit a 205/65R15 without any real issues too, but a 215/60R15 is going to be very close to 'as good as it gets' when it comes to tire size upgrades! :ohyea:

Ride More, Worry Less! :2thumbs:

You bought the correct tire for the reasons already stated ..... Now for a PSI that works Best - try 18 psi ..... Mike

I looked long and hard for a 206/65R15, but I think it's an "Aussie-only" size, so I settled for a 205/65R16. Vred Q5, but close enough.

Those comparison charts are helpful when choosing tires, but you need to bear in mind that they don't necessarily reflect the ACTUAL comparison between tires & their sizes - they only reflect the relationship between the NOMINAL sizes based upon the different nominal sidewall size printed on each tire..... which may or may not be anything more than 'vaguely related' to the sizes you are comparing! :lecturef_smilie:

Though not exact. It is a good relational comparison and will give you a useful starting point. It's just a tool. Used correctly, it will provide a worthwhile benefit for those looking for replacement tires.

That comparison calculator is the first one I have seen that shows the theoretical error in speed. In the case of most modern vehicles, this can show you what to expect on correction of the built-in error most companies have in their speedometers. While different manufacturers have different methods of measurement, devices such as this are still helpful. Their error for the tire I chose reflects almost exactly the amount of correction I experienced when mounting a 205/65 on the rear. On testing mine with two GPS units my speedo indicated 75mph while both GPS indicated 74.5mph after the upgrade.

I am still of the opinion that it's grossly UNfair that you can edit your posts (and mine), but I can't edit my own. :cus:

.

At the risk of going off topic for a post or two - you should be able to edit your own posts.... for a while, anyway ;) altho you shouldn't make gross or wholesale edits! :lecturef_smilie: So if you can't make a minor correction like changing a 6 to a 5 within a few hours or so of posting, please drop me or any of the other Mods a PM & we'll get it checked out!
