• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is This Normal?

I've got about 300 miles on my new RS SE5. Today it started to downshift harder than before, almost clunking as it went from 2nd to 1st, and idle at a higher RPM. I did a lot of stop and go driving if that makes a difference.

Don't want to call the dealer and make more of this than it is, but also don't want to do any serious damage either. Any ideas what this might be? It "feels" like the transmission is working way too hard, but I'm used to a smooth CVT.

YOU MIGHT TRY POSTING THIS ON THE SHOP TALK FORUM.MAY JUST BE A LITTLE MORE KNOWLEDGE THERE :dontknow:

According to my dealer, yes that's normal. Mine's done it since I drove it off the lot. I've found that decelerating with a steady pressure helps. If you brake, then let up on the brake then brake more it seems to be worse then.

Depending entirely on how I decelerate, brake or manually downshift I can either make it clunk or not.
You've probably subtly changed your driving, and like me, as you become accustomed to the Spyder ride your focus changes from the riding experience to noticing all the new noises that the Spyder makes.
Pay attention to how you brake. Make sure you're not leaving some throttle on while braking.
Personally I like to manually downshift and drop into 1st long before coming to a stop. Even manually downshifting has some subtleties like how long (or slowly if you will) you press the paddle. Quick flicks are not as smooth as a more determined press.

The fast idle is a whole 'nother kettle of fish. The idle is too fast if the Spyder wants to creep when stopped. If it's not creeping with your foot off the brake on level ground it's OK. Otherwise get it to the dealer to be adjusted.

Your centrifugal clutch is the problem.Had mine changed at the 1000 Km(600 milles) checkup and it even triggered the VSS the very first day i got the:spyder2:turning sharply right on a bumpy onramp banking the wrong way:dontknow:.I went back the very next day, they checked the codes and chanded some switch. It then worked fine but after a while on roads with alot of stop signs clutch got stuck with very jerky down shifting and high RMP (2200 to 2500). Works like new ever since!!:roflblack: God I love this bug.

NB. My dealers got to be the best and gave me great service from purchassing spyder ,getting riding gear and especially service dept.
