• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is this likely to be Thermostat &/or Water pump?

Thermostat is heat activated. Sounds like it is sticking occasionally or partially. Could be caused by casting residue floating around in your cooling system. It happens..... Make sure your system gets a good flush when changing the parts..... Jim

" residue floating in the cooling system " ..... I think my 14 RT is living a Charmed Life .... 66,000 mi. on orig. coolant :dontknow::lecturef_smilie: .... maybe I'll change it before this season starts ..... Mike

FYI 998 at 70k miles (NO warranty)what happened to mine. DIY the thermostat only to still have problem -The water pump impeller broke and jammed in the housing causing the water pump drive gear to break.

Just dropped of a dealer this morning.....should be covered under extended warranty that we purchased when new.
I let you all know what I find out in the coming weeks.

The dealer just called and said it was a cooling fan relay.....I'm going to call B.S. It's not that the fans weren't kicking in .....they were, it's that the radiators would be ice cold....That's the problem! He also told me that one fan pulls air in and one pushes air out... both of my fans have always pushed air forward since day one.....more B.S.

I told them to keep looking at it because I don't want to drive 100 miles one way only to find out that no hot water is getting to the radiators.

Still think its a sticking thermostat!

P.W.

I agree, stealer is incorrect on stated cause. My thermostat failed and broke into 2 pieces. New water pump needed.

IIRC, the fans are reversible. They push air rearward at cruising speeds and forward at very slow speeds to minimize hot foot issues.
