• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is this a safe way to tow a Ryker

I think if the windshield is removed and to be safe the handlebars should be strapped so they don't move, I would tow it that way. Maybe not cross-country, but a few hundred miles should be OK ....I would be concerned about the ground clearance under the rear wheel. I can't really tell from the pic how much there is ???? .... JMHO .... good luck ... Mike:thumbup:

I don't like it. I would be worried about the handlebars shifting some which would either get the Ryker shimmying side to side or the tires would start dragging at a slight angle to the direction of travel.

Keeping the front tires straight was my concern too. If it were me I don't think I'd risk it.

So enlighten me. Seriously.
On ever auto I've needed towed that was towed from the rear, the driver has ALWAYS asked me to "unlock" the steering column.
Why would a Spyder be any different?
Tnx

It does not look like the hitch pivots, so you would not want the have the handle bars locked.
I would not want to make any tight turns with it.
The tail swing could damage the trike or hit something.
Paladin, the reason they had you unlock the steering was so they would not damage the steering lock or your ignition switch.

In my post above , I said " strapped " ie. secured, NOT using the Steering Lock ..... because I don't think it will LOCK in the " wheels Straight" position .......Mike

The problem here is we only have the Pic ..... I had a similar device for my Dirt Bike ..... and it did " pivot " ..... Mike

My point is, unlocking the steering column on a car will ALLOW the wheels on the car to move!

If it were my camper and Spyder I would place it on a normal tow behind trailer.
Configured of course to accommodate the Spyder.
That set up , well scares me, to many what ifs.
Imagine if the steering wasn't perfectly aligned, it would drift out beside you..
What happens if you have to hit the picks in a hurry.
Could you even get out onto the road before you tore the fitting off the van?

Yeah Nah. Strapped down to a trailer then a front cover every time for me.

:agree:
Other concerns: lack of proper direction reflectors (only red seen is on camper) do Rykers have directional tires like spyders:dontknow: wind getting under panels wrong way & ripping off not just the windshield. :lecturef_smilie:Trailer it

Used to drive a tow truck. We would unlock the steering, but would tie off the steering wheel.
If you didn't the car would wander all over the place, forget about backing up.
I would use dollies, much safer
