• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is there enough room for the passenger with Utopia Backrest???

:2thumbs: Glad to hear it...
It seems as if I'm facing more big decisions...
A Utopia backrest added to the existing seat, or pop for a full-on Corbin with one of theirs installed... :dontknow:

Bob my wife and I are in the same boat, im waiting for the owners event in Durango and maybe I can sit on a few Corbins if it is allowed. And maybe there might be a few Russel "Day Long" seats there as well to try out. I really need the back rest 6 operations on my lower back and I know from just looking at the utopia it would make a world of difference.

I go 6'9" 300 or so, my wife...is a + size gal and I am glad I bought the back rest that pops out. When I ride alone I use it, when she goes along there is no way she'll fit so I take it out and use her for a back rest- much more comfortable;).

Either way I am very comfortable.

I've sat on Corbin's. I don't like them. Too hard. And slippery. My ass kept feeling like it was going to slide right off the front of the bike.

Received my Utopia backrest on Wednesday and it was installed on Thursday. It is FANTASTIC. had three friends climb on back and they are all sizes. Everyone loved it........my back really appreciated the support. Great buy!

worry

my utopia backrest is on its way, will arrive here next week.
After reading all this I am concerned that Kathy will fit though between the back rest and the back of the spyder, she has not lost a lot of weight lately...maybe I need a hoist to lower her into and lift her out of the seat. Any suggestions for hoists? I was thinking of a block and tackle hooked onto the shed beam.
Anyway, will give it a try and will post a picture, any advice welcome.

The seat back flips forward and lays down so they can get on. If you're concerned she won't fit, get the quick out option so you can take the seat off easily when she rides with you. And hope she doesn't start reading this forum. :)

Speaking as a female, if your wife reads this.......you are a dead man walking! Dude........really??? :lecturef_smilie:

Hi Fliight Risk
Kathy is OK with this, we make do given the situation, if all fails and she does not fit she can travel in the trailer

Utopia vs. Corbin

I would just be weary of the corbin, I have seen a lot of forum traffic where people have had issues with the corbin seams busting and corbin not warranteeing their product, this includes arm wrests and I have read complaints about it being too hard on the back.
From the homework I've done Utopia is a very well made and warranteed product. So I bought one. Not plugging it for my own benies, just saying, "Caveat Emptor" on the Corbin, sometimes more expensive doesn't mean better product.

Passenger has plenty of room with Utopia

We got our Utopia Backrest today. I have not installed it yet. My wife sat on the backseat and we kinda placed the backrest on the seat were you will cut the hole. There did not seem to be enough room for her. She is an average size woman. Is there a worry here or does the backrest go forward enough not to bother the passenger..I know there are a lot of people that own this backrest, have read all of the posts and everyone loves there's. Can we hear from the passengers how they like them...Thanks everyone for your help and advice...

We just intalled the Utopia backrest on the RT. My passenger/girlfriend is 5'8" about 150lbs and says she has plenty of room even when the backrest is adjusted furthest back per the set-screw adjuster. It's all a personal thing depending on the stature of the passenger.

My husband, who is of a slightly larger stature in the abdomen area, was able to fit behind the Utopia backrest on the passenger seat. It was a bit snug, but he was okay with it. I had no problems on the back, but I am quite a bit smaller than he is.
