• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is there a pattern to this stupid instruction card?

I think I may be repeating what was said in a previous post but in case not, here is how I do it.
Turn the key on.

No choice but to wait until the Can Am logo goes away and the first screen appears.

Hit mode.

Hit starter
and drive like heck with the bag of money...or at least a bag of....groceries! :roflblack:

Pat

After you start it, let it idle until it settles at 900 RPM (for a 1330) 1400 RPM for a 998 and you are well lubricated and ready to go.

Thanks, Joe! Not sure I've always been doing that, either. Guess I've just gotta rein-in my impatience once I'm straddling this thing. I always train my horses not to move off the minute my off-side boot hits the stirrup, but now I'm expecting "Spyke" to take off right away. Gotta mend my ways.

And before you read the card you must recite
"My Spyder which is parked on road
Hallowed be thy wheels
Thy kingdom come and I will be done
If I do not read the card daily "

LOL, or ....

My Spyder who is parked in barn,
Hallowed by thy wheels.
Do as I say, be work or play,
Or no more petrol meals.

Just to be sure that we are on the same page ..................... Pulling out the card has absolutely no effect on the Spyder at all.

But . . but . . . why didn't the manual tell me that? :yikes: I'm so confused. The manual says to read it :lecturef_smilie: . . . but I just read on the internet that I don't have to read it :dontknow: - and if it is on the internet, it must be so. I read that on the internet!

If you have started the Spyder then turned it off you can restart without pushing the mode button if you do so within a short time. I can pump gas and restart without pushing the mode button.
Ann, you may already know this, but if you just shut it down with the kill switch and leave the key on, you don't have to worry about how long it takes you to pump gas, make a few phone calls, or whatever. It'll always start right up again. ;)

Ah shoot, Joe, you HAD to post that didn't you. You DO know that BRP monitors these posts, right? Now the 2017 models will be coming out with interlock switches on on the card. :sour:

I haven't read that card except for 3 times, ur problem might be not holding the mod button down for about 4 sec & holding the foot brake downbefore hitting start button

I always engage the brake, but I'm definitely not holding down the Mode button for several seconds. I'll start trying for longer on the button. Thanks.

Ann may know this, but I didn't. This will at least help when I shut down short term and don't leave the machine. Thanks!

You're welcome. What takes the time is waiting for the Spyder's computer system to re-boot. The system doesn't immediately shut down if the key is turned off just a short while, but it won't shut down at all if you leave the key on.

Gotcha. I get brink-of-murder furious at my PCs all the time, so it kills me that this otherwise marvelous machine forces me to be utterly dependent on computerization. Just can't escape the danged things anymore, from my truck to our latest farm tractor.

Gotta say...

It does a good job of shading the instument panel on my RS when the sun is to may back. :lecturef_smilie: You will learn the ways of the computers and remember the more you have the longer it takes. The RS is pretty quick compared to the RT and the F3 police bike starts instantly....:banghead::banghead:

Well you can escape computers, but only if you choose to opt out of life one way or another!! :yikes:

And seriously, if you can't ride & hafta move so far into the sticks that you can be totally off the grid & have no choice but to be fully self sufficient, would you really want to live like that?!? :gaah:
