• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is the oil level correct??

I need to do an oil change soon, but knowing I won't for a couple of weeks I decided to take the 2011 RT for a spin for about 20 min. Pulled off and sat with engine off for about a minute. Checked the oil level and it was at the lower level or the bottom of the dip stick. So I figured no worries, I'll pick up a quart and add to it later on the way home from work.
I did just that and let it idle for a couple of minutes then let the machine sit for a minute and checked again to find my oil level now over the full mark?:yikes:

Not to concerned but what gives?? Any advice or opinions?

thanks,
Rich

Yikes...!!

Something is amiss....if this occured without having added any oil then check it a couple more times. I like to take off the o-ring cause it makes it easier to thead the dip stick back in when checking the level. I do as you do come in from a ryde take of the gear and then take a reading. I'm good as long as its on the stick but like to keep it just under full. If you added none you could have forgotten to screw the dip stick in all the way on one of the measurements....:dontknow:

Checked the o ring to make sure it would seat correctly

I was very specific about that o ring. made sure it was seated back up off of the threads then threaded it back on. I'm going to do a recheck when I get home again, Any risk of harming if the oil level is indeed to high? I may just change it out.

It sounds like he added the quart prior to rechecking. At least that's how his post is worded to me.

My take on the explination..

From his explination..he stopped and got a quart of oil. Added the entire quart, then checked it again when he arrived home.
I believe he may have over filled being there was only an indication of oil on the bottom of the dipstick when he initially checked

Oil

If it was at the bottom of the stick it only needed .25 of a quart I think it is over filled .You are going to have to take some out

If you need to you can suck some out with a turkey baster and a hose that fits the end.

It should go without saying, get a new one don't use your wife's
