• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is the F3 worth 7-10k more than a RSS to you?

Opinions...

In my opinion no. But you really have to ryde them both to see if the differences are worth it to you. There are quite a few differences other than looks..

:welcome:

Only you can really decide. But you should test ryde both. The F3 and RS have different engines, different ryding styles, etc. If it was me, I'd choose the F3, but it's really up to you.

Try b4 you decide...

Have not ridden the RSS, but my F3s is great. Really enjoy the ryde. :doorag: If you get a chance, really should ryde both of them - but I think you will favor the F3.

Well the RS is 4 years old and so your seeing a big price gap. If you can pick up a 2015 F3 for 16k, thats is a great deal. My first Spyder was a 2012 RS SE5. Loved that Spyder and it served me well and was all I really needed. My mistake was test driving the F3 and feeling that power. I was hooked. Also, I think there is a larger market for the F3 and RT and your resale would be a bit better.

So there is a big difference between power huh?

Although I have not ridden either an RS or F3, all the information presented by the other contributors is in the bulls-eye. I agree with the folks who recommend test riding both and, IMO, if you do so the 1330 engine in the F3 will easily sell it over the older V-twin RS.

cool, is the ride much better? and just how much more powerful does it feel? How much better is the handling?
the ride is much more comfortable for my legs. the "cruiser stretch" position beats the hell out of the "crotch rocket" knee tuck. I do find fault with the f3s suspension as a two up machine. we were never told by any sales people, that it was designed for a single rider with the occasional second person in mind. we always ride together. now I am exploring aftermarket shocks (which I believe lamont is going to have the answer to shortly) not to worry if you are buying a 2016 as they have a new swing arm and supposedly are designed more for those with two up on their mind. now as far as the 1330 against the 998, forget about it. no comparison. lots more throttle response on the f3. there are those that still feel the rs can beat a f3 on the strip, but I highly doubt it. not to mention the extra miles between servicing on the f3! the wife and I love it, and hope the quirk about the shock will find a fix!! good luck in your decision making process. ps, the cat bypass is a must for a throatier sound.

BOTH

I'VE HAD BOTH....
a 2009 RS, and put over 50,000 miles of smiles on that one...
and a 2015 F3-S that i've ridden almost 15K on...
i love both for different reasons... but by far the F3 is my favorite...
but remember: opinions are like armpits... everyone has a couple, and most of them stink....
listen to all opinions, make your decision, and buy what
YOU LIKE...

I have also owned both versions of the BRP engine--998 and 1330. There is a difference in smoothness, torque, and the way it sounds and feels.

I had both a 2008 and 2009 GS/then RS--the earliest versions. Two RT's with the 998, and my 2014 with the 1330. No F3 yet, but am considering one in the spring.

For me, I like the 1330 more than I did the 998. A test ride of both should be on your agenda so that you find the one you like best. If price is not an issue, I would recommend the F3.

Both are pretty quick the real difference is the 6th speed offered in the 1330, much smoother at higher speeds. They are both great bikes but both in my opinion will need the upgraded swaybar at the very least so you can hold that line at high speeds taking the twisties. The other big difference is the seating position. I found both positions comfortable but for me the RS position gives you more command of the road with its forward seating style. You will have to try both.
