Is it Safe to Carry a new/replacement Tire on the passenger seat of an RT?

Has anyone tried to carry a Spyder tire on the passenger seat of an RT?
I’m going to need a new one soon; so, I was thinking of purchasing one, then taking it to my mechanic who is about 1.5hrs away. I know he prefers that I not to have it shipped directly to him unless there is no other option.

Pondered this myself. It certainly weighs less than a passenger. I think if you can safely bungee/secure it using the passenger handles, you should be OK?

I’d use rope or cable to. I rode seven hours with a big motorcycle bag on the passenger seat. Using bungee and a bicycle cable lock.

I do it for every rear tire since I switched to the General Atimax brand. I remove my drivers backrest and use a nylon strap to hold it to the passenger hand holds, 90+ miles to the dealership. I don't even know it's there at interstate speeds. Backrest rides in the frunk.

I have done it many times on both my RT and my Suzuki Burgman. A couple of good bungee or whatever straps you like to use and off you go.

I did this back when I had my Yamaha Raider, and no back seat.

IMHO .... Yes, you can do it .... But I would be concerned about PAINT SCRATCHES & SCUFFS ..... Mike :thumbup:
