Is BRP now Recommending Manual Downshifting on SE's?

Bob, if that's true. Why did they raise the downshift RPM's last year? Just asking.

The change in the RPM when downshifting was to do with accelerating. If your RPM is to low and you accelerate quickly it will downshift first.

Prior to the update, if you where below 3,500 rpm and you accelerated rapidly you could burn out the clutch, now it will downshift first to prevent burn out.

I would say the downshifting is by design and it is in the manual.

I was always under the impression that it was only a rpm-sensing setup.
I wonder how they're now reading the torque load? :dontknow:

You wouldn't have to read the torque load, just the throttle position or even the vacuum level. No different than the modulator or kick down mechanism on an automatic transmission.

downshifting

pick up my bike after new handlebars installed, did not make it home clutch started to slip bad, took it back to dealer, problem clutch basic shot, only 1058 miles on bike, reason was they say I lugged the engine to much, I say its time for a for sale sign
