• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is Back To Black plastic finish good?

gkamer

Sadly passed away, December '23.
To use on a Ryker, will it damage the plastic? Suggestions of something better perhaps?

Back to black works very well. It does attract dust though. I prefer to use Finish Kare 425 Extra slick body shine. Works on all surfaces and wont attract dust.

I've used it several times on the rear of my Slingshot and other areas whose plastic is similar to that of the fender on my F3. It worked well, making the plastic look newish again and lasted a reasonable time. I didn't notice any particular attraction to dust but I'm not in a dusty area either.

A favorite of mine is: https://www.amazon.com/Lucas-Oil-LU...or+detailer&qid=1607207457&sr=8-1&tag=mh0b-20 I've used it on the interior and exterior of the Slingshot that is flat black plastic and it worked wonders. Spray on, wipe off, left black areas looking fresh and clean. Says can be used on plastic, vinyl, leather, rubber, metal, even furniture. Just not sprayed a bunch on my varnished wood keyboard table and you wouldn't believe the dirt it removed from the area I use the mouse. Smells great too!

I've tried many products over the years for plastic UV protection since I live in sun drenched Florida. I use 303 Aerospace Protectant, its probably the best out there for UV protection for black unpainted plastics. I also use Pro Honda cleaner & polish on all the painted and powder coated metals on the Ryker. I've been using it on my other bikes for several years now.

I've used back to black, good stuff. I also use Protect-All which is another great product for plastic and glass.

I use this as well on my Ryker and love it.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Now I've got some research to do........:)

I used Back to Black on my honda element for years and it never damaged my plastic parts.. It worked well enough that I never actually tried using anything else.

I used "Back To Black" cleaner prior to using "Back To Black" protectant on my Isuzu VehiCross, which has a LOT of cladding, well over a year ago and it STILL looks great. It's been garaged since then, so maybe regular use out of doors might have given a different result.

In 2013 I bought a 10 year old Wrangler.
Excellent condition other than top faded.
I do not have any "before" photos, but these after after applying Meguiars "Ultimate Black".
Looked great (to me) and lasted through many car washes before another coat was warranted.
Sold the Jeep in 2015, but still use "Ultimate Black" currently on my 2016 Frontier's plastic trim (side rails, bumper, tailgate trim) which is gray.
Protects from UV, smooth finish.
Meguiars is tan in color and the color of the plastic to which it is applied does not matter.

For a couple decades I've used Johnson's Lemon Pledge on face shields and fly screens to reduce bug cling, clear rain easily,
Works like Rain-X for plastic (Rain-X glass formula has too much alcohol)

I used it on the Sport wind screen and then used it on the hood, to facilitate bug removal.
Worked great. Only reapplied after coin operated car wash (twice).

Not suggesting it for the entire bike, but did think about it.

Fading not an issue, as all vehicles are garaged.

Below photos are before 400 mm shocks installed (what a difference!)
