Iridium Spark Plugs

Spyderfest was AWESOME! Sorry I had to take off early... You did miss me.. Didn't you? :dontknow:

I've been burried since getting back with too many things to mention so I haven't posted (but I have lurked a bit).

Anyway, I've got the chance to provide NGK DCPR9EIX Iridium Spark Plugs for the Spyder for $15 delivered to the 48 US States (this is for 2 plugs). Of course I will also ship these worldwide. Total cost will vary by destination but should not be that much more than domestic.

I am wondering if there is enough interest to buy the volume I need to get this price.

This is the ultimate spark plug for your Spyder.

I'm using these Iridiums in my Spyder and I think they are the way to go. They give better ignition than OEM plugs and their real beauty becomes more evident as you ride. Though initially the improved performance between Iridium and OEM plugs may not be noticable, the difference becomes ever greater as you put miles on them. OEM plugs begin to lose performance fairly quickly. After a few thousand miles they can start to miss (maybe not enough for the rider to notice but still a loss of performance).

The iridium plugs will run thousands of miles with virtually no change. You can run them much longer and still have brand new plug performance.

Anyway, if you're interested let me know.

Also, many at Spyderfest asked me about several items. The Firstgear Rear Tail Bag (which I love), Rain Gloves, Summber Gloves, and other gear. As soon as I get the chance I will post prices on these items as I can't remember who exactly asked in the first place.

Gear up for Maggie Valley and Lamont's BBQ! They will be a blast for sure!

I would be interested in 4-5 pairs of plugs at that price, sure. Nice item to have in stock for our club.

I have 20K on my OEM's but have had a set Iridiums for 8 months ready to put in. If it wasn't so hard to get to the impossible plug I would have swapped them out long ago. That and the OEM's are still going strong. :2thumbs:

interested in the plugs. Well you have any at Maggie Valley / BBQ. If so I'll get a couple

Yes, I will bring some to the BBQ And Maggie Valley events.

Another reason I like the Iridium plugs. They will easily go 4 spark plug changes of the OEM plugs. As hard as the task is that's a lot of saved effort. And they are actually less expensive when you consider how long they last.

You Got That Right! You want me to be on time for the CA Trip or what? :dontknow:

You going to be installing them at the BBQ:ohyea:

No.... I don't want to look like Harvey at the end of the day! :yikes:

:roflblack:

Really appreciate the confidence Good Buddy! :gaah: So, are you questioning my skill level, the quality of my Snap-Off tools, or my dedication?

I've been using these iridium plugs for 12k now. Love 'em!

Enjoyed meeting you at Spyderfest!. We need to start our own group of 'Under-Appreciated' Spyder Lovers....

I'm in for a set Ron :D

Good deal! I should have them in next week (of course I will be on my way to CA with my good, supportive buddy Lamont), but no matter, I'll post when they come in and I can have them shipped out quickly.

Hopefully, I ordered enough to cover everyone.

Why? More power, better mileage? Not being smart just have not really been impressed with fancy plugs over stock plugs in cars, trucks, boats or bikes than I have tried then in over the years. I try to keep an open mind but I am a bit skeptical:dontknow:

Not to speak for RAL, but l too share your skepticism. Not only about plugs but oil, additives of any kind, and the list goes on.

Still, there are improvements and advantages in various products and the Iridium spark plug is no gimmick. It won't blow your socks off and frankly, you probably would not notice any difference between a new set of OEM plugs and the Iridiums.

Iridium plugs fire easier (just a matter of physics as spark will jump easier to a small electrode than to a large one). So you get a fatter, hotter spark. Add to this that each time a spark jumps it blows a bit of the electrode away. Figure 2000 firings per mile in 5th gear and that can add up. As the electrode wears it makes it harder for the spark to jump. Combined with high compression pressure this can result in a weaker or no spark at all.

Some plug manufacturers tried to compensate for this with multiple spark paths (2, 3 or 4 side electrodes). But these additional parts tend to shield the spark from the fuel charge and block the flame path. So you give up more than you're getting. They look impressive but performance was not anywhere near the hype and for most applications, the OEM plug was the better choice.

With the Iridiums you get the best of all worlds, an unobstructed flame path, and an electrode system that lasts a very long time. So, after thousands of miles you're still getting brand new plug performance.

Don't forget the heat sink paste,

Very good point. You will need a good heat sink paste (not anti-seize). Silver based works well and there are others. This increases heat transfer between the plug and the cylinder head. If you use the wrong stuff, like anti-seize, you'll actually insulate the plug from the head, restrict heat transfer and possibly cause yourself issues.

Heat sink paste should be used regardless of the plug installed. It isn't an iridium thing, it's a Spyder thing.

If you can get me two NGK iridium plugs for $15.00 to my house I want some. Ran iridium plugs in my car for 100,000 miles, changed them to new iridiums and the old ones looked great and ran as good as the new ones. Now that is impressive. Do you take PayPal?
