• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

IPhone5/IPod5 Solutlion for Spyder...

Spyder Tony

I recently got a IPod 5 to listen to my tunes on the ST-L and was dismayed when I went to plug it in to the IPod/IPhone adapter cord my Spyder came with...IT DIDN"T FIT. I checked my manual, and sure enough IPods/IPhones are supported only up to generation 4!!! The kicker was that I had the IPod engraved, so there was no taking it back. I called the dealership where I purchased my Spyder, and they didn't have a solution. I searched this forum and many other forums/blogs and ran across someone who got an adapter at Apple.com. Checked it out (Found out the same Apple adapter is sold at Target) by buying one at my local Target ($29) and it works like a charm!!! I have all the functionality of the IPod with the use of the Apple adapter. I'll be the first to say that this little piece of plastic should not cost $29, but seems that Apple has changed the form factor of its products as of gen 5 forcing the necessity for an adapter if you want to use your new IPod gadgets with your previous devices (My Spyder, in this case). I could go on about this being why I wish Can Am had integrated Android in addition to (or instead of) Apple tech, but i'm not...pay no attention to the fact that I just did :)

Here are some pix to illustrate the difference in form factor size, the adapter used, and the whole thing connected together. As a note, an Apple forum had several posters who found a knock off adapter as cheap as $1.87 each...but they all stopped working after a couple of weeks according to several dozen posters. Based on this, I decided to bite the bullet and pay the $29...at least this way it's the genuine product AND I can bring it back into a store for an exchange or refund if something were to happen. Hope this post saves someone else the grief I went through trying to integrate the gen 5 IPhone/IPod into their Spyder.

I found that out First Day

Tony, the problem is really that BRP hasn't kept up with the changes at Apple, that connection to the iPod/iPhone has been out for over a year I believe. I bought the same part, and now I don't use it much as I am streaming music to our helmets VIA Bluetooth. The great thing is that I can listen to any of the 14,000 songs that I have stored in the iCloud, without have a huge amount of storage on my phone. Pretty slick.

If you group the songs into smaller groups (I forget the exact wording in eye tunes) you can switch between them. Otherwise you get every song played in order and sometimes it will start over on you for no reason.
