• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

iPhone 5C Mount - choices & recommendations

I'm leaning on mounting my iPhone above the stem

Techmount 4-80007
it's the one with a 17mm ball (not the flat platform)

Techmount Tech Gripper
4-TGRIP or 4-Tech Gripper with 17mm socket
looks to me that this is a/the universal holder which handles "phones thickened because of a case" My iPhone 5c has a Life Case and is pretty thick as far as phones go.
I also want something that handles other iPhones with case...of course, I will eventually retire my 5c for some flavor of 6, or gawd forbid, an Android !!! etc etc etc...don't want a holder exclusive to one phone model

I've failed to find something that extends the height of the phone...a 17mm socket to 17mm ball kind of thingy

any comment or experience with this setup

as it goes, I may not have anything on top the dash except storage...the last thing I'm pondering is where to mount my radar detector...high enough for line of sight above the dash through the windshield...might just mount it on a RAM ball on the bars with a long enough extention pointing up, but am worried it will look "spastic" like a stupid periscope...so TBA

I am not really understanding what it is you want to do with your phone. It sounds like you have a cradle for it and a ball mount to put it where you want it. If you need more height don't you just need a longer arm? What did I miss?

I'm a RAM guy, but since the stem mount available is Techmount, I'm asking for confirmation that this will work well, especially if that the way someone went with...there are some sponsors who sell a TechGripper and I wondered if it's the one I'm contumplating purchasing
plus I can't find an appropriate techmount extension

thanx for asking

Here is my idea, but buy the longer ram mount, it gives you more movement.

I got a mount from these people:

I've been generally happy, but there are some design issues. There is power cord that I think could have been run through the steering wheel that is visible and doesn't need to be, and the rubber cap is odd when it is open because it hangs down and touches the bike.

Still, I'm very happy with the design and would get one again.

I used the RAM X-mount with this mounting adapter from Rivco.

You can order it without the cup holder. I put a ram-ball through the hole. It mounts on the right side of the handlebar.
