• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ipad is very limited on the RT

I don't see it any different than adding risers or hid's to a Spyder. There is always room for improvement on any product, even the RT can use a few. :D

I'm still looking for the ipad sucks app. nojoke

LOL! Let me know if you find it.

For now, I'll stick to my 2nd generation iPhone. :)

found the time to play around ..a friend showed me his one..
it also workes also as a perfect GPS !!! worked also inside a house ..
lamont can you look for a Spyder-RT-iPad-adapter..

only the one with the cellular wireless build in works as a GPS. the wifi only model doesn't have the GPS chip and uses cell towers to get location and I heard not too well like 2 or 3 blocks off.

something else i forget also with the more expensive model over the wifi only model...

I am on the road going to a Harley touring rally. I got a 64gig 3G iPad the day before I left. I am loving it. It is a huge leap from the netbook I got two years ago. The net book was a huge leap itself. I have had every generation of mobile devices for at least 10 years. I am very impressed with the iPad.

The other reason I like my ipad. I have both my RS and RT manuals on the ipad and they are searchable.:doorag:

Now that is something I would like on my iPad. BTW, the iPad rocks!!!!!

I heard that the next generation iPad is going to have a camera on it, but it's only going to be like a 7" screen though. I don't want a mini iPad, that would be like a glorified iPhone and I already have 3 iPhones!
Love my iMac. Use it to record my CD's. Garageband does wonders!!! When people listen to my music they ask where I recorded it. I tell them my bedroom using a Mac and they're blown away. Love my MacBook Pro as a recording studio on the go when traveling. iPad is next to hold PDF's of all my music scores and use it during performances instead of paper scores that blow away in the wind when performing outside. Won't have to use a little music stand light anymore either.

I love it. I have the 32gig wifi only but I have a 3Gs that's jailbroke and I use MyWi as my hotspot when I don't have a connection. The browser is super fast and it great to show off your pics and video. Now all I need is the new iphone. :D

The new iPhone like any motorcycle or most other electronic devices has it's own problems. Just a note on that iPhone4. http://www.intomobile.com/2010/07/1...-4-antenna-problems-free-bumper-cases-to-all/

Isn't technology wonderful?

any updates now that ipads been out a while?

thinking of getting the 4th gen itouch OR the ipad2.

is control of the ipad2 avaialble on the spyder rt?

I bought the iPad 64G 3G when it first arrived, and got the unlimited access for $19/mo. Since that time, I have dropped my Macair and iPhone as useless. Note: the monthly iPad fee is $20 LOWER than my iPhone fee, from the same vendor...

With Skype, I have full phone use, and E-mail in a format I can use. Additionally, the large screen mapping (quasi-GPS) is really helpful.

All my business needs for traveling - word-processing, spreadsheets, presentations are all done on the iPad + wireless keyboard.

I have five desktop computers in my system, none of them run Win OS, nor do any of them have ANY Microsoft software. All calendars are automatically updated when I make a change on any of the computers or iPad, and the iPad includes a locator if lost or stolen.

I have looked at the iPad 2, and did not find a reason to upgrade. I could care less about a camera, as I refuse to participate in the "social media" craze.

Lamont is correct about the ICE/Spyder control of the music - it's because of the App interface, rather than the direct link found on the iPod - the same holds true for the iPhone - at least for my old one, which has been relegated to iPod and WiFi/Skype usage.

Those that dis the iPad either have never really used one, or, for some reason are tied to their boat anchor (laptop).

Personally, I believe that future generations if iPads will have a "real" docking station, fully replacing laptops. Looking at the new MacAir, there's no reason why the iPad can't have 256 or 500g of memory…

May Microsoft & the PC RIP…… JMHO

ok thanks for that reply but bottom line does the IPAD vers 1 or 2 should be the same. with any connector or ap ... will it work with the spyder RT so I can view the songs, toggle between folders ect on the screen of the Sypder?

or can I do that with the iTouch?

I've only been able to do that with a Ipod - NANO, Original, Shuffle. All the others will play, but w/o control. I use a NANO 16G, and it's perfect for the Spyder.

You are correct that there's no real difference in functionality between the iPad 1 and 2 - unless you are in to video - and then only video taken with the iPad...

ok bummer was set on getting an itouch if the ipad2 would not work in the spyder ... have mp3 players if i wanted a volume only experience.

can someone verify the ipod touch will not work.. I thought i saw upstream of this thread it did.

I guess we will order one from amazon and see if it works and ship back if not... have to have tunes for the 2 day ride to cuba next week.

as for ipads... i have friends that have the ipad1 and the zoom. there are pros and cons. for me I am looking at the play book as I always have a bb with me for work. no extra fees to auto teather the playbook to my bb and it will then use the bb GPS so I have a full GPS signal on the tablet. yes you need both .. its not for anyone without a bb. after reading the reviews.

but IF you have a BB already you carry around everywhere like I do... then the playbook makes sense. puts out 1080p HDMI so only need a micro HDMI to HDMI cable I already have $8 online. and no service contract as I already have my cell service of BB ...

Clueless - consider a NANO, especially the last generation, which include a video camera…..

did $99 plus tax and I think free ship ..for refurbed one 16 gb on apple store

but instead at that price looked at 4th gen ipod touch for $279 no tax and free shipping at amazon for 32 gb plus get all the stuff of the latest iphone just no phone AND no GPS (sigh)

I have a new Ipod touch and it works with the RT. The only thing I noticed is that if I shut it down when I am done riding, it does not default back to shuffle, it always starts playing from the top of the list of songs (alphbetically). The RT display works the same with the touch as it does with any other iPOD.

COOL :ohyea: thanks for the update ... so looks like the ipod touch is slightly different then the iPHONE. hmmmm as Dragonrider said his iPhone is like his iPad no control via the Spyder interface...

You could always buy the NANO and a Refirb 3Gs phone & have the best of both for the same money??

you can get a iPhone 5 refurb 32 gb for the price of an iTouch? the latest iTouch has the updated screen as the iPhone and the latest OS features. just not the same camera as the latest iPhone (i guess they are saving that for Sept 2011 version). and of big gripe is no GPS in the iTouch. so cant load gps maps and use for GPS... or if I were able to get a mifi or android phone that had wifi sharing that I would be able to have with the touch for gps navigation... or search Google Maps for stuff.

just did a quick search and a refurb iphone (3g model) 8 GB is around $300 on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPhone-3G-8GB-Refurbished/dp/B0032SJGWK
