• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Invereter use to Charge Devices

Anyone use a small inverter plugged into the 12v receptacle in the rear box to charge small devices? Phone, iPod, etc.
It is a 100w inverter and has an AC and USB outlet on it. If running I don’t think it will be any problem. How about when the bike is not running?

I have not done this on my Spyder, but I have done so many times on my BMW. It depends on the load. No problem charging a cell phone or iPod, but I wouldn't venture beyond that. The Spyder does not tolerate low battery voltage.

Keep in mind that those small inverters tend to be very inefficient devices. I would not let one run for any extended time without the Spyder motor running to charge up the battery. They will pull a lot more power than the rated need to charge the phone, for example. You're usually better off using a direct DC charger is one is available, than using the inverter.

:agree: I have since switched to a direct DC charger for my cell phone.

I have used a 300 watt inverter to charge my Lapto, it is a Dell Mini 10, used it for 8 - 10 hrs while on a trip on which we did some geocaching. The longest the spyder was not running was about 3 hrs while I visited my Grand kids.. NO problems at all. done this several time since but shorter trips. No problems.
