Had an interesting ride yesterday. I was up in the mountains and decided to take the road from Ruidoso to Cloudcroft NM. This is about a 30 mile twisty road with great scenery.
After a few miles I reached a point where the road was being worked on. Brand new chip seal. The bike was sliding all over the place. Finally figured out to have the left and rear tire in the "groove" and it slipped a little less. I think I would have gone down on a two wheeler.
For those of you that don't know what chipseal is...they spray the road with as thick oil and then cover it with pea sized gravel. The gravel then "sticks" to the oil and they sweep off the excess pea gravel. Except they hadn't gotten to the sweeping part yet. There was a two inch deep section of pea gravel where the rear tire was supposed to be. This went on for ten miles.
As I said, interesting ride.
