There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Interesting performance comparo between F3 and Indian

It's nice to see some non-kool aide drinking honesty and realism Xyzzy. Nice work my friend!

Thanks!

There is an app for my phone which supposedly will measure 0-60 and 0-100 times. I may play with that next. First I need to find out how precise and accurate it is.

Okay, I got bored.

How fast can I get the F3 to go if I "cheat"?

Today was moderately windy, so I caught a tail wind.
I added 5 PSI to all three tires. My Corvette manual tells me to air the tires higher for high speed driving so I thought it might help the F3. Maybe less rolling resistance?
I tucked in real tight for less aerodynamic drag.

121 MPH @ 7100 RPM

It pulled that twice. I didn't measure the head wind (return) leg because I knew it would be low and these high speed runs really kill my fuel economy.

So, maybe it can go even faster with a smaller/lighter rider and/or more tail wind? (I am six feet tall and weigh 200 pounds.)

I guess it all depends on how you define "top speed".

YMMV

Speedo. I don't have a GPS. (Yet!)
I'm not here to cause trouble, but if we really want an answer to this top speed question, we need to have speeds verified via GPS. Speedos are commonly known to optimistic at higher speeds. The tach is accurate, so if we had a GPS-verified 50 mph vs rpm, we could extrapolate what your 7100 rpm means. Easy to do, but I don't have the GPS required (we like to get lost.......)

In the absence of a GPS, I have to fall back on old-fashioned math.

If you go to "Gearing Commander" and ask for the F3's numbers you get 121.32 MPH. (Make sure you switch the display to MPH!)

Note: The F3 only shows RPMs in increments of 50.

I haven't had my F3 long enough to gather info. but on the Suzuki Hayabusa the tach is off by 400 rpm at it 10,800 redline, thus it reads 11,200 when the limiter cuts the engine. As far as speedo error---there are several classification-requirements to move up in license D,C,B,A,AA land speed racing. Various--aka-most mfg show higher speed than actual--(132' time at end of mile) In order to move up in license the rider needs to come within 5-10 mph(Race director determines acceptance). Lots of guys have gone through the last 132' with the speed0 reading 175 mph just to find out timed speed was 160 mph. Beyond the factory mfg exceeding the true numbers factors such as tire wear , etc contribute to speedo error.

…more tail wind?

Today there was a very strong wind out. The kind that wears you out riding into it. I decided to do a speed run with the wind pushing me. Since my last effort I've returned the tires to "normal" pressure and I've installed a gauge spoiler. I hit 124 MPH @ 7250 RPM. It's cheating but it's still fun!

Did you turn the bike around, and put it's nose into the wind for your second run? :D

No, I was pretty tired from fighting the wind all day plus I knew that my speed run was "cheating". I bet it would have struggled to break 100 the other way!

Since my last post I have replaced the gauge spoiler with a Route 129 windshield.

I expected the added frontal area of the windshield to lower my Spyder's top speed but now I can redline fifth gear (117 MPH) both with and against the wind, even when the headwind is strong. I can hit 123/124 MPH in sixth gear in still air or with a tailwind. I haven't gone any faster than 124 MPH but my Spyder pulls harder getting up to that speed. I have 8,500 miles now so maybe part of the improvement is due to the engine loosening up some.

YMMV

I bet your Z06 has no problem cruising at 130!

Ron
The car is unbelievable.......0-60 in < 3 seconds and 0-130 in just over 10 seconds! Cruising near the speed limits I'll get almost 30 mpg. I've had over 100 cars and this is like no other (including Turbo 911)
