• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Insurance

I noticed a big jump when going from a 2011 RS SM5 to a 2012 RT-S SM5 here in Calif.. Neither was financed. The worst though came when they wanted 260 per year for a Bushtec trailer! I thought I am leaving these guys but then when I checked around they were still the lowest. Would love for Bob to be able to write a policy in Calif! NY is not to far from Cali?

We have progressive, a 2011 RSS. Are they quoting your friend total loss coverage? If so that may be the reason for the larger amount. We have total loss through progressive (pays deductible, MSRP for your bike, and accessories). Progressive includes up to 3000.00 worth of covered accessories after that you have to pay more. We don't pay 1300.00 for ours though. We are 30, live in NH ( where insurance is crazy sometimes due to not having to have it so it makes getting hit by an uninsured driver a larger possibility) and have one totaled Spyder on the policy. we do have multiple policies through them which helps as well i suppose.

So it does seem a little outrageous. Glad your friend found a company to work with that was reasonable priced.

Well, my friend wound up getting coverage through Shelter. $516 a year but sure bears the $1600 quote from progressive. He's happy! Thanks for all the replies. Our agent ran my VIN under him just to compare and his was still double my rate. Not sure why still. He has no tickets, no wrecks, but he is 28 and I'm 34. Only real difference I see though.

I try all the the time to inquire that the system is not as uniformed as people think. But everyone denies my thoughts and defend the "variables". Oh well, I'm gonna keep my views on this until I'm proven otherwise.

I found Allstate beat everyone else. I haven't tried Shelter. Will see when mine comes due again. Progressive to me is way too high.

I had my renewal on my 2010 RTS in hand from State Farm for $485 per year when I started reading this thread. Decided to call a local insurance agency here in VA that has connections to over 30 insurers. I got a quote back from GMAC for the exact same coverage for $236! :yes:It does pay to shop!nojoke

I have noticed a recent hike in insurance prices in general. My auto insurance was around $850ish a year and when renewal came up, the same coverage went to $1400+ a year, shopped around, found $1100 a year to be the best price for someone reputable. I found some prices as high as $2400+ a year.

I think insurance is just getting a lot more expensive in general.
