• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have a 2009 RS that I bought last August and my insurance is $388 a year through progressive. My friend just bought a 2013 RSS and it is $1600 through progressive. Same insurance agent. He's checked 3 different places and the cheapest has been $1100. I know it's a newer model but shouldn't be triple mine. Any suggestions ?

Check..!!

the coverage..is it financed.? Cause then they have to carry more insurance. Are they valued the same. Not to well versed on insurance but we have some wizards who will chime in soon.. Good luck..!!:dontknow:

These are just a FEW of the factors that'll make that difference

I am finding a considerable price increase here in Virginia for my 2013 Spyder STS compared to my 2011 Spyder RSS. I am still waiting to hear back from 3 local insurance agents who are going to quote a few different carriers. Also got some feedback from other spyderlover members as I asked this question last week.

So far the best I have found is Riders Insurance www.rider.com but you have to be careful with the coverages and not just get the lowest one they offer or you are opening yourself up to potential risks.

Thanks,

Shawn

Rates on the new 2013's are new fodder to discuss. I am finding about $60 a month average for each of my :spyder2:'s. A 2010 RT-S and a 2011 RT--A&C. I do carry full coverage. One is paid for and one is financed.

I heard back from one of my local agents and he recommended Utica National Insurance out of Utica, NY (Close to where I use to live) and was blow away with the price of $264 per year with all discounts he got me for my 2013 Spyder STS. This was for $500k bodily injury, Uninsured/Underinsured and property damage.

You can find an agent via their website. I would recommend checking them out as they are highly rated company and are very agressive with motorcycles and power sports.

They also offer all types of personal and business insurance as well.

I just wrote a 2012 RTS for a 61 year-old married guy who is a new driver...$273 for the year with full coverage: 100/300/50 split limits, Comp. coverage:$250 deductible, and collision with a $500 deductible...

I think the issue is the 2013 with proper rating with the insurance companies. All of them seem to have the issues with the 2013 being more expensive.....

No doubt; value raises the cost of the physical damage coverage.
As does inflation, repair costs, medical costs... :gaah:

You should become a site sponsor and push Spyder insurance. You'd be the only game in town.

Your slogan can be.............. "We can spin you a web of coverage"

Man that sound like great coverage...how can I get in touch with you for my '12 RT Limited? Maybe you PM with the way? Thanks:bowdown:

Bob, how about a 59 married guy with a 2009 RS SE5 and a 2005 1100 Vstar classic with I think a clean record. Renewal soon, already checked with nationwide and they were higher.

Bob, can you write outside of NY state???

Well, my friend wound up getting coverage through Shelter. $516 a year but sure bears the $1600 quote from progressive. He's happy! Thanks for all the replies. Our agent ran my VIN under him just to compare and his was still double my rate. Not sure why still. He has no tickets, no wrecks, but he is 28 and I'm 34. Only real difference I see though.

Insurance costs in Louisiana are a bit higher than most states. Especially for the uninsured motorists coverage - in Louisiana I wouldn't be without it. I am an independent insurance agent quote my rates every renewal and Foremost beats rates each time. 2012 RTS.
