• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Installing additional power outlet

I am wanting to add an additional power outlet, other than the standard one in the rear trunk, to use to power/charge my iphone/gps/etc... that I will have mounted from time to time on my Kewlmetal GPS/Gizmo bracket that I have ordered.

I will put this one outlet near the speaker area probably as I have seen done in other posts here as seen in this picture.

I am thinking of using this: Powerlet http://www.powerlet.com/product/low-profile-powerlet-socket-kit-60/384 as it only needs 1" or room to mount. The instructions seem fairly simple, with just a direct connect to battery it seems for positive and a negative to frame somewhere like gas tank mount, etc.. and it comes with a inline fuse.

1. Does this sound like a proper way to do this?
2. The inline fuse and direct to battery since only the one extra outlet and that outlet only to be used to charge Iphone/GPS sound fine?

I just am looking to make sure I am thinking right on this, what seems to be, easy install.

Thanks

Powerlets are great! Very tight to install them on the RT, due to the panels and braces beneath the dash and glovebox panels. Be sure and look before you drill, and measure carefully. The low-profile Powerlets do take up less space. I installed mine on the Y-panel surronding the glovebox on my 2010 RTS, but that requires removing the glovebox and precise location to avoid interference with the under-structure. I chose to install them in the speaker grills on my 2011. Much easier!
