• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Installed XM - Long Overdue!

Well, I finally gave in and took the plunge. Bought the XM kit from Motor City Powersports (from their Ebay listing). They accepted my $350 bid... was pleased with that price (and they have more to sell).

This was a NIB (New In Box) item, and after a few hours this afternoon, had it installed and working fine.

Will be happy to have some additional infotainment choices! Now if I can figure out how to program it!! ;)

and did you get your Xm subscription at HALF price?

If you didn't... oh well. Next year then.

Hi Sopher,

How would I have gotten half off?! I did the yearly subscription thing, but half off sounds even better! What's the secret? :dontknow:

Call them and request the $77 for a year subscription. If they say you cant get it tell them you want to cancel your subscription. Then the next department will be cancellation department and they will give it to you. Have done it for the past 4 years and many friends and family I have gotten setup with the same deal.

Lifetime subscription. I think it cost me around $400.00. Allows you to replace two new "receivers" if one goes bad.

How tough was this installation? I keep looking at the XM radio and the entertainment harness but have been reluctant due to an allergic reaction to any project requiring a modicum of mechanical skills... nojoke

Lifetime now costs $799 !!!

That's probably because mine is the XM "select" rather than "premier" that you more than likely have. You have a whole lot more on yours than I. I'm just guessing at this point. I got my subscription back in April, 2010.

I hope you have better luck with their customer service than I did.
I spent 40 minutes on hold last night just to get some information on the channel change. Finally got so disgusted, i ended up canceling:chill:

Hi Bob,

Installation of the XM module and antenna was pretty simple, but did require the removal of the LH Middle Side Panel (where you check oil), LH Wind Deflector, LH Mirror, LH Service Panel, LH Top Side Panel, LH Rear Side Panel, Rear Panel (horseshoe shaped panel that wraps around rear of RT), Battery Access Panel and the LH Rear Speaker Module. Whew... am tired already!!

Having taken all that off, you drill a couple of holes (using template provided) just above rear compartment (in the area just forward of rear compartment) for the antenna bracket to be mounted with push pins. Then you route the antenna lead down to the forward area of the LH saddle bag storage compartment where the XM Module is installed. The XM module plugs into the Entertainment Harness for power and audio control.

PLEASE NOTE: This was as "simple" as described above ONLY because the Entertainment Harness was already installed (from the CB installation I did last year).

To install that Entertainment Harness, you'd have to remove (in addition to what I described above), the RH compliment of parts mentioned above, along with the seat and then the whole saddle bag / rear compartment module (basically the whole back end of the machine). I used several straps and suspended it from my garage door track and garage ceiling, and it was a full day's effort! :gaah:

So, since you're "allergic" - you'll want your dealer to do this, and they'll charge you 3-4 hours (just guessing - check with them) of labor.

Hope this was helpful,

Bill
