• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Installation of RT Passenger Speaker and Audio Controls?

I am looking at getting the BRP Kit for the Passenger Speaker and Audio Controls for my RT. Has anyone installed this before? If was was it hard to do or should I have my dealer install?

I haven't done it, but I have installed rear speakers, and I have had my RT apart enough to put in the controls... I don't think it would be too hard to do. Some things to think about...

Will your passenger want to control the radio or volume, or do you just want rear speakers?
Are you concerned about the warranty (of the upgrades)

If you don't think the controls will be used, you can add speakers alone.

If you do the mod yourself, there probably will be no warranty, as opposed to having the dealer do the work.

I did mine and it was pretty easy, except for trying to seperate the speaker box from the panel. That part took a little bit, but once you firgure out one, the other is a snap.

I bought the kit thinking that you had to have the wiring harness, but you don't. The kit comes with good instructions, 2 speakers and the passenger radio station changer. It does not let the passenger turn the volume up or down...

If you like to tear things apart and put together again (hence a little pacience), no problem. Otherwise, not for the faint of heart.

Be adviced that the passanger controls only work for changing pre-set stations or tracks on the MP3 player. Volume controls are if you have a wired CB radio system for the passanger.

I was not aware that my wife would not be allowed to control the volume. I guess all I need is speakers and I know they are a lot cheaper then the kit. So this leads me to ask another question. what is the size of speakers? I will get them from a marina here so I know they would be ok in all weather.

4 1/2 inch

I was just looking on their website. They are only about 2 hours from me. I may just have to run up there on Friday and get some. Who knows. Maybe they will install them for me.

The rears really are not that hard.

The fronts were a pain.

The other choice is POLK marine 4.5" - they are about $99 a pair and usually not on the shelf but have to be ordered. Dont sound all that great (albeit better than the can am stock ones) so maybe the J&M would be better to try? To just add speakers the wiring cable is already there on the RT so you just add the speakers themselves and hook them in.

MY RT limited already has the passenger adjustments and it is never used. When I upgraded my A&C, I just added the speakers. I dont want my passenger messin with my tunes. :sour:

Just don't go with JL Audio. Sound quality is good, but they want a powerful amp, and the smaller speakers probably want a subwoofer to pick up the rest of the music.
