• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any good ideas where to locate the state inspection sticker on the RTS? Live in VA and would like to reserach options before the thing goes on somewhere stupid. Would be nice if there was a plate to bolt on somewhere on the RTS for the sticker.

:dontknow:
I could be wrong, but most state's that have inspections, Mandate where the sticker must be placed.

What's an inspection sticker for??? I had to ask what an EZ pass was too… :dontknow:

It's a state mandated sticker placed on the vehicle by a state certified inspection station to certify the vehicle meets the state required safety requrements such as brakes, lights, tires ect.

An inspection sticker is another excuse for harissment of a citizen by law enforcement. It has been a law in Maine for many years but they figured out that only about 15% of registered bikes were inspected. Now we have a new law that makes us have to mount it in a conspicuous place. The original spot was the front fender. Needless to say that wasn't very popular. Now they are going to take a year to figure were would be a good place. They don't like the place recommended by motorcyclists, especially the bend over part. The republicans have taken over the state. Should be interesting.:dontknow:

VA has considered bills to do away with the Inspection for the last few years but so far it has failed to pass.

Sorry I asked…

We have DEQ (smog) inspections for cages out here, but nothing for bikes (yet). There aren't any toll roads or bridges either - however, giver the propensity to raise hidden taxes (oops, I mean fees), it shouldn't be long for us.

Only motorcyclists are allowed to pump gas - that used to be a fight here, but they finally passed a bill a couple of years ago to let us pump our own. However, along with that bill, came a host of tighter restrictions on the stations, and quite a few small towns no longer have any gas stations...

In Maine you look around real hard to find a station to pump your gas for you. If they do pump for you on a motorcycle they will hand you the handle. They don't want to explain spilled gas to a motorcycle rider. :lecturef_smilie:

Jersey did away with bike inspections last AUG. Still illegal to pump your own Gas[except bikes].
Which is good because most Jersey drivers wouldn't know how to pump their own gas.

North Carolina did away with the sticker but kept the inspection. It's all electronic now. You must have inspected prior to vehicle regestration...no inspection, no tag !

To show how politicians don't think alike. It is illegal in Maine to inspect a vehicle that is not registered. In NC it is the opposit. Plus here the month that you have it inspected is when the year starts. My original date of inspection on my van was September now it is April. Missed a few months along the way. No consistentsy in this country. :dontknow:

I think I would prefer Maine. Actually almost did last month...company tried to transfer me up to Skowhegan

Did away with inspection here years ago (most stations took the money gave you a sticker to put on windshield.Law didn't work). Finding some one to pump your gas is rare :cus: will freeze over 1st

I made my own plate and have it attached to the underside of the left passenger's footrest. By law, it's supposed to be on the left AND in the front half of the bike. Most LEOs won't bother with us if we try to be close to legal.
YMMV

Mine is in the same place - per Redline's suggestion!
