Inspecting the drive belt condition and its tension. when is adjusment required

My ST (my 14) got a new drive belt and i want to know if it is necassary to control the tension.
When the bike was new the tension was proofed after 1000 km and then all 7500 km.

Whats about the now new installed belt..??
Which time is about checking the tension for the first time....??
Is it also about 1000 km or after 7500 km..

Don't assume all is the same - check it with a Kirkit if you have one.

The Krikit device is something you can use yourself to measure the belt tension any time you desire. I will give you a link to it and that should answer your question. You want item number 91132 that goes to 150 kg.

The question is not how to control myself the tension , the question ist the time for the first intervall after installing the new belt..
1000 km or 7500 km

Hi Reiner, my Spyder is a 2013 RT Ltd, but the 'run-in tension check' on my Spyder's drive belt & then the first check after that (just to make sure it was doing the right thing) were scheduled for the same kms as yours - initial check at 1000km first up just to confirm it was still OK after some initial use; then a later confirmation check to be sure it wasn't doing the wrong thing at 7500km.... so I reckon you'd be pretty safe doing the same with your new belt too.

That said, belts made of materials like our drive belts aren't really all that likely to stretch much over time &/or use, but just like torquing up your lug nuts when you first change a tire & then checking that the nuts are still tight once you've driven for a bit, re-checking the tension in a new belt after some initial ryding certainly isn't going to hurt anything! :thumbup:

I'm sorry Reiner, I thought you were asking how to check the belt at those intervals. My mistake.
Where in Germany do you live? In 2000, my wife and I went there to Frankfurt, rented a BMW K1200LT. We toured most of Germany from Frankfurt south and west and into Austria, Italy and a wee bit of France and Switzerland. We rode over many passes in the Alps, saw beautiful scenery, ate tasty foods and drank very good dunkel bier. We were there for a month and it was wunderbar! We are so glad we did it.
