• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My name is Stumpy6Guns and I can't help myself. I am obsessed with adding goodies to everything I own, and now the urge to get started on my 2012 RTL has started!
The first thing I need to do is find out what the previous owner(s) has done to the machine. With all the panels on, it's nearly impossible to see anything, even if I knew what I'm looking for.
BajaRon's swaybar immediately went to the top of my list, based on all the positive feedback I've read. How can I get a good visual on the existing suspension? Do I need to pull off any panels? Which ones?
On a side note, how much wheel hop is normal on bumpy asphalt in a curve? I don't much care for the sensation of bouncing towards the guard rail!

Thanks,
Myron

...... On a side note, how much wheel hop is normal on bumpy asphalt in a curve? I don't much care for the sensation of bouncing towards the guard rail! .......

Errrmm, None!! :yikes:

What tire pressures are you running, up front especially?? The 'standard' suspension & sway bar set up on these things is renowned for being too soft for spirited twisties carving, so if your tires aren't pumped up too high, the soft suspension & normal flex in the tire sidewalls plus the body roll towards the outside of the curve that's inherent in this sort of 'non-leaner' should see the Nanny cutting in & slowing things down well before you get anywhere near 'wheel hop' (altho many get to just lift the inside wheel if turning harder than the Nanny likes!!)

To look for the BahaRon swaybar, jack up the front of the RT safely, get under and look for a bar that runs between the front tires. Look for a logo in the middle of the bar.

An easier way is take a ride and go around some corners. If you feel the RT body roll to the outside of the corner, it doesn't have the upgraded swaybar.

As for wheel hop, used to ride a light weight Springer and know what your talking about. Never felt it on a Spyder, even on chewed up asphalt.

YES!

Farkles

I got my new RT in October, 2015. So far I have put on a stubby antena and a guardian bell. Is there something wrong me? However, I am seriously considering a speaker upgrade.

Drive the front wheels up on some car ramps. If it has the "RonBar" you'll see the decal/logo. Run your front tire pressure at about 20psi and see if it still wheel hops. Check your front shock preloads too. You shouldn't be wheel hopping.

You and me both. I have added Diamond R armrests, at my wifes request, and a mudflap. Can't see spending 21 grand on a bike, and then adding another 3 grand on accessories.

I found the tire pressures in the front to be 21.5 on the left and 21.0 on the right. The rear was 26. I changed them all to nominal (15 psi in the front and 28 in the rear) so I can get a baseline before I start making adjustments. No wheel hop at all today. Just an overheated right shin. I ordered the Baja Ron swaybar and links a couple of days ago. I really like this roadster!

Facts don't cease to exist simply because they are ignored.

Mods

Get a Swaybar, a laser alignment, better headlights, a third brake light, and ride it. A lot. The rest of your needs will reveal themselves to you in time. 😄

San Diego

We would come to San Diego for an event. Would be happy to. PM me for details. Joe

Joe and Ann are the best! I held out for nearly a year and over 20,000 miles on my Spyder waiting for them to come to the Phoenix area. It was worth the wait.

P.S. Be prepared to get farkled while you're there. Joe is handy with the farkle gun too :roflblack:

OK, I got the Bajaron swaybar and links installed yesterday. I'll take everyone's word about the improvement, but I'm not pushing the envelope enough to know yet.:yikes: I was able to take a twisty road at almost the speed I normally drive it with my truck, and that's an improvement!
I think lights will be next; headlights and other "white" lamps first, and then the LED safety lights.

If you don't....

If you don't get the opportunity to have "Squared Away" perform the alignment before September, they're scheduled to be at the Nor Cal Spyder Rally in Sonora CA on Sept 13-15. You can kill several birds with that stone! Lots of SoCal Ryders coming.
You can get yours done right after mine! :D
