........for the first time out riding, my friend and I got soaked with rain on our way to "Cook's Corner," where we stood outside drinking a beer in the drizzle------I tell you, the "Black Widow" handled the rain like a champ---so impressed. It took the curves on the wet black-top, down through the overhanging trees, like it was made to do it----the F1 Marcel windshield kept me fairly dry while my new "HawK" helmet stayed clear----Now that I have forward foot pegs and some floorboards----now that the SE5 has the new shifting springs installed, this thing is unbelievable. The guy who wrote about "not being sure" should have been with me today. I am so stoked about this machine----I get 33 mpg, and all my stuff in the trunk stayed dry----I'd like to share pictures of the "Black Widow," Lamont, but I'm too challenged to do it on the forum---I'll email you the pics if you'll put them on the forum for me---They will blow your mind-----SSSS

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sara, we are very glad to hear that you and your Spyder are doing well. It didn't start out well, but we are glad you stuck it out. We have 7300 miles on ours and have yet to drive in rain. I am sure during our trip East in July we will. Kinda looking forward to how the Spyder will feel in the rain.

Closest we came was on our way back from Hollister, CA after getting our Corbin installed. And it was just a sprinkle here and there, off and on. No wet roads. Gotta love this desert!
Living in Florida and riding everyday rain has become a fact of life for me. I will say this though, even though the Spyder handles well in the rain and IMHO is much safer in the rain than 2 wheels. Do not get lured into a false sense of security when riding in the rain. The Spyder will hydroplane on you and I'll tell you it's not a lot of fun when it does.
More like 40 miles :spyder:but I have to agree with Sleepman. Been in some heavy downpours HDX remember the one in Marbledale that was a hydroplane day the hail was also nice:ani29:

That one was one of the worst - glad I was on that back - I wouldn't have been able to see anything. Also remember NH - when we were looking for Moose - that was nasty too!

Oh yeah, that was BAD. On Super 7 - freakin heat wave. We knew storms were coming but figured we could make a nice coffee run about 45 minutes away. Was too hot for me to strap on a helmet and ride so I hopped on the back of the Harley with HDX. Shorty helmet, tank top, enjoy the breeze:2thumbs: Coming back to the camp site was a different story. On Super 7 we are riding back and the sky was divided - blue/BLACK. Saw a Jeep wranger putting the top back on. Rode right into the mess - HAIL like you wouldn't believe, lightning - worst I ever saw in my life. Downpours, cold front coming in. We pulled over, got off the bike, HDX couldn't see, no bridges to park under and we ran for the ditch. The hail HURT. Here we are crouched down in this ditch on Super 7 and I make my way to the woods so I can have a ciggy and be under trees to stop the hail from hitting me. HDX tells me that being under trees is a bad place when the bolts of lightning were so close to us. We did manage to pull some rain gear on, after we got soaked of course. So here we are crouched down after the ciggy in the woods. Hail hurt like heck. Felt good that the heat wave was gone - it was in the upper 90's but went down to 60 something and we were in this mess for well over 1/2 hour.
Glad I wasn't riding because I don't see well without my glasses and I would have been totally screwed. When it got down to a drizzle we got going again. HDX's bike did stall a few times - he got water in it.
Then we got back to the campsite and all was well. Storm over - gorgeous night but then his fog lights went on by themselves twice - freaked me out! Wires got wet.
We would have been good if there was a bridge to go under but there was nothing.
Thats when Monica the little chinchila said she saw a little Mooseee with spots instead of a Fawn :spyder:
