• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

... Of the arrival of our 2018 RT-L 10th Anniversary model: I went out and got a Smart-Phone. :yikes:

But the damn thing is WAYYYYyyyyy.... smarter than I'll ever be!

It's an LG G5 (Android based...)

Question: Can anyone advise me on how to install a Navigation App on this thing?
(And which Nav App I should use?)

Okay: TWO questions! :D

I'm still figgerin'-out the whole picture thing... :banghead:

"Play Store"... Got it!
Will that give me an icon to poke at? :dontknow:

yup.....
you'll notice a 'white' bar at the top of the PLAY STORE screen.... tap that, and the keyboard will appear.... type in GOOGLE MAP and tap.... MAP will come up, and you'll see a 'download' icon.... tap.... and it will be on your phone....
good luck Bob...

I found it! :yes::yes::yes:
But it wasn't where I figured it would be...
There was a Google button on the screen that comes on when the thing fires up...
I tapped on that, and a whole bunch of "Googly-Stuff" was in there.
"Maps" was one of them!
I decided to try to move the little icon... SUCCESS!
I first just got it out of the Box, and had it down next to a phone, camera, pictures, and some other Icons.
I slid the screen over to where the rest of the stuff was, and moved the icon up in line with the others...
BOM Chacka-Lacka! :ohyea:

 Welcome to the 21st century, Bob!

I have an iPhone X on its way. I considered waiting six months for the XS (since that's how I live my life!), but couldn't resist the temptation!

:D I kind of feel like a dog that has just been given a saxophone...
I don't know a thing about it; but I'm gonna have fun trying!

(What do you think of the camera? :yikes:)

Bob,

relax! You seem to be able to navigate your computer just fine. Your phone is a "handheld computer". Any APP you need is available in the Google Play Store. Remember it is just a little PC! Now, have some fun, and hope that all the Spyder goodies are not based on an iOS platform!!:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Congratulations...🎉🎉🎉

Your gonna have a lot of fun and frustrations... once you get what you want from the thing you will be a happy camper....they are just mini computer with different paths to follow....

I'm a "Windows 7 kind of guy... although I'm now running 10... :D
I checked with BRP, and this phone is one of the ones that has been tested with their system.

If you have a question on using a feature of your new phone try searching You Tube. Lots of how to videos. It can be very helpful.

Google Maps and REVER...

I use both...
REVER is available free for both iOS and Android...I use it to "track" rides when I've no planned destination and follow them another time, or record rides that others are leading for future use

GLIMPSE

Bob, (& others);
you may also want to down-load GLIMPSE..... this app allows you to follow others who use it, as well as letting others follow your progress while riding.... give it a try, you'll like it, i can attest to it....

Quoted from the BRP website.
"Be the first rider on the open road to access different vehicle-optimized smartphone apps with Can-Am Spyder. Get directions with Genius Map†, listen to your favorite songs with Music, check the weather with Accuweather †, share experiences with your community with Rever†, and more — all while enjoying your ride."

Those are the 4 apps that work with your 2018 Spyder display when you get it.
