There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Impact of Installing of Aftermarket Accessories on your Warranty

Quick question for all you smart folks out there (So Bob D, this leave you out :roflblack:). If I install aftermarket accessories (i.e. lights, cat bypass, wraps, etc), will that void out my warranty. I understand there are some exceptions...like if I wire tap a harness and cut the wire, I don't expect BRP to have to pay for that. But say I am using the accessory circuit and something goes wrong with the electrical system, will they tell me to take a hike on a warranty claim. So far, all my aftermarket upgrades are reversible. I haven't done anything to the bike that I can't take off. For example, I had to tap a wire for turn signal lights, but I tapped into a harness, that was used for another light so if I screwed it up, I would just be out what I paid for the aftermarket lights.

I may be overthinking this, but just thought I would throw it out there to see if anyone has run into any issues.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I have put aftermarket lighting on all my spyders and a cat bypass pipe too with no warranty issues. with exception of the fender lights and air horn i install all electrical accessories in an aftermarket fuse block to keep all wiring clean. If I have any electrical issues then I can just disconnect the fuse block from battery.

The only time(s) that aftermarket parts will void the warranty: If BRP determines that they caused the problem.
(So adding a cupholder will never be an option; should your ABS system fail...)
But if you remove your catalytic converter, and your engine fails... you might want to put things back to stock, before calling your dealer! :yikes:

:D left out... :roflblack:

If anything you add or remove causes another problem. Of course that is not covered under warranty. What do you expect.
If your addon causes warranty work to take longer to do. Of course you should expect an extra labour fee.
If your addons did not cause the problem or interfere with the warranty work. It should be fully covered with no argument.

WARRANTY ISSUES ON THIS

In the ..... USA ..... the Moss-Magnussen Act was written to prevent manufacturers from arbitrarily voiding warranties because owners did their own maintenance. If BRP claims something YOU did caused Damage ... BRP has to Prove it ....So if you do your own routine maintenance keep good records ......... Mike

Have to agree...

:agree: What I have found is that this has been discussed a numer of times and I don't see any post where a claim has not been honored because of the normal mods made by folks here. Most of the items that would possibly fail from our add ons etc are items not covered by warranty anyway. Check the Not Covered items and then judge what your about to do....:ohyea:
