There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. I'm taking the Concealed Carry Weapons Class this weekend!!

Didn't Danny DeVito describe lawyers as being a lot like nuclear bombs in the move, "Other People's Money"?
"They're handy to have if you really need them; but they sure do muck up the landscape."
I think that firearms can also be lumped into that description. ;)

Thankfully I haven't had to pull mine yet and I hope i never have to. I had a small incident in the local Target parking lot last year and all I did was pull my coat back and the guy changed his mind real quick.

You have to be careful doing this. Some state laws may consider doing just that as being legally defined as "brandishing a firearm" and now you're in trouble with the law and its attorneys. These people do not look at the facts that your doing so ("non-lethal") did in-fact end the possible escalation of the situation which may have resulted in a shooting incident ("lethal").
Common Sense has been replaced by Legal Doctrine.

NRA

I am real happy to see all of you going out to take the cc course. Carrying a weapon is an awesome responsibility not to be taken lightly. I found a few resources, like the NRA, and concealed carry magazine to be very educational. I would also urge you to get involved in protecting your rights as a gun owner and responsible citizen. Happy shooting!

True... But if you have a valid reason to fear for your life or well-being; you're pretty much good to go...

Just got my permit to carry, Indiana has no class. So guess I'm good to go:yikes:. Funny thing is day after I get a gun someone steals something off the house. Go figure?:banghead:

It won't be funny if you killed somebody accidentally. :banghead:

I have had a conceal carry license since my military days (Uncle Sam issued it - job related) and continue today to carry. Anyone else find it strange that you have to "pay money" to exercise your 2nd Amendment right to "bear arms"? Seems like that in and of itself is an "infringement". But no one argues that the poor, who may not be able to afford the licensing fee or class, are being denied their right to "bear arms". The reason I, a certified instructor, instruct for free.

Final thought, our Founding Fathers gave each of us the right to own a firearm (and possibly carry) and was found by our courts to be protected under the 2nd Amendment. Anyone know where in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights the right to vote is found?

End of rant..... :)

Here in NC we are an open carry state. No permit is needed to open carry. You do have to get a permit to buy. It is only $5. And that is a sheriff fee for a background check. I have also held classes for free in some cases. Depending on the situation of the particular individual.

You can carry open in West Virginia also, but to carry concealed you must have the permit. I always carry my 357 mag.when i'm out riding my spyder.

Montana, is about to end the laws requiring a permit to CC, gee I wonder how many states will honor montanas law

Curiously enough; New York does not specify method of carry...
But the Judges can imposet limitations on a permit:
such as hunting or target usage only... :gaah:
All that an unrestricted license will say is"
"License to carry pistol is hereby granted."

Hi Bob, correct me if I am wrong, New York does not give out concealed carry anymore. You, like myself had to be grandfathered in to have one now?

Again; there's no discussion of concealed versus open methods of carry; the Judges will just add restrictions as to usage for the sidearm in question...

I've had my permit ever since Kentucky started the process. I have been to many ranges and hunted for over 40 years. I either have a Kimber Custom II TLE or a .40 Sig 226 Tactical at all times. I'll have one or the other with me when I ride. The Kimber helped me buy my RT. I can tell you first hand what a .45 (200 grain federal hollow point) feels like when it goes through your femur. I still carry that weapon. The Most Accurate handgun I have ever owned or seen. Always remember that there are two types of gun owners. Those who have never had an accidental discharge and those who are going to!! I had one, while driving down the road. Never felt the bullet but the broken leg was a pain in the, well, leg...I had my brain fart and that's why I own a spyder. Don't have to worry about dropping a two wheeler when I have a leg full of screws. . Always remember, it just takes a split second to do something stupid like I did. DON"T BE STUPID LIKE I WAS. You can sit there and say, "I'll never do That" or "It will never happen to me". I will promise you, you will have a close call at some point. Unless you need a very expensive and painful reason to own a Spyder.. Know your weapon from one end to the other and God Bless You All !

I too agree Bob but the trouble is ALWAYS those who weren't there judge you......translation > Attorneys!

Well Day 1 of class is over. Thank God for that. The first half of the day was interesting but the second half was the instructor speed reading Utah law. :gaah: Then we took the written test on Utah law. Tomorrow 2 more hours of Nevada law followed by a test then we go to the range to qualify.

Congrats now the waiting begins.

The good news is that now you won't have to pony up for the background check if you present your CCW when you make your next purchase. Maybe a Glock 26 or a Sig P290.
