• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ignition Switch

Has anybody had any trouble with the ignition switch jamming up? Every once in a while I insert the key and it won't turn. After a little playing around, re-insertion, etc., it finally cooperates. Is it safe to spray a little WD40 or graphite spray inside the switch. I would hate for this thing to go out on me if I'm a long ways from home... or anywhere for that matter.

Try turning your handlebars fully

One idea, make sure your handlebars are turned all the way, one way or another.

I had to spray WD40 in mine for the same issue. That was about 1 year ago. I haven't had any issues since.

Spray the KEY ONLY, with your spray of choice.
then insert it in the switch a few times.
No mess no fuss.

Lock-Ez with graphite is all I've ever used on locks, spray the key, insert it in the lock. WD-40 is good for breaking things loose, like penetrating oil or Liquid Wrench.

WD stands for Water Displacement, and that is what WD-40 does best. It acts as a solvent when first applied and then the volatile elements disappear leaving a bit of lubricant.
If I was to put it in a lock I would follow it with some Lock Ease so that some graphite lube stayed in there.

:2thumbs: Yep what he said, handle bars is most likely the problem. Don't used WD40, it will not work and if you use any lube use a graphite based one like, Desert Spyder suggested.:firstplace:

I found this great product to use in the ignition switch: CRC Industrial Food Grade Silicone that you spray inside locks. As opposed to WD40 or graphite that can be messy, silicone is quite clean. In fact, because this is food grade, you can lick it without harm. Not much taste however. I also used it on the key hole to my Corbin trunk which has always been tight. I was always afraid to use the little key to it for fear of twisting it in half.

Gee! I wonder if this stuff will work on DPS units? That should confuse the squirrels.

I got this stuff at work but I'm told you can get it at auto parts stores.

I like how you actually licked it to test that it was food grade, and to see what flavor it had before using it. :D

Glad it worked for you.
