Ideas for next Owners Event

My thoughts, due to prior commitments I was not able to attend the owners event, however I read all the posts and look at all the pictures. I don't really see how we can compare Chicago owners event to Spyderfest. Cuba was all about the ride and fellowship with other Spyder riders. From the outside looking in it seems the owners event was just a big sales pitch. From all the pictures of the frilly stuff hanging in the tent makes it look like a formal affair an I'm not sure that is what we are about. I have mixed feelings about having it in conjunction with Spyderfest, on one hand it could make for a one of a kind event and ensure we set a world record however on the other hand it could ruin Spyderfest if not handled right. Owners event needs to be centrally located with easy access to good roads because Spyder riding is what it is all about anyway. Maybe what needs to happen is all the BRP execs need to put on blue jeans, teeshirt and jump on a Spyder and just attend next years Spyderfest.
:agree: :doorag:

I kind of agree with Mo Lee and Lamont. Next year I would like to see more BRP participation with the SPYDERFEST, but not to turn it into a total product line marketing ploy! Spyderfest is for Spyder lovers. I'd like to see techs and a parts trailer and have a couple of Q&A sessions on the prevailing Spyder problems. NO B------t, just tell it like it is. I'm more accepting of an honest explanation of a problem, rather than a "stroke job". I realize that it is a problem for most corporations to admit that they do have shortcomings with some of their products, but they do owe the end user an honest answer.

In addition to the above suggestion, a couple of organized rides and meet and mingle sessions. I believe a party can be too organized!
Just my opinion!:D

I like the cruise idea. Possibly a sunset crusie with music.
Everyone is self contained and has everything they need all in one place. All they have to do is have fun.
Alot easier to coordinate for BRP as well.
Coordinate a ride before so people have something to talk about.

Day 1 Owners welcome event
Day 2 Ride in the morning til early afternoon.
5pm cruise with music and dinner, awards ( 1 hour)
Day 3 Breakfast, leave the rest to the ryders

I coordinate shows for a living, not being there...when I saw the banner that was hung at the awards ceremony I was was shocked. Looked like they pulled that out of a suitcase. It was cheesy and curled up on the corners. If you want your name remembered in a a strong way, this is the most inexpensive way possible....presentation is everything. The stage should of had a nice graphic presentation.
Give people a nice setting, they will come and find a way to have fun.

why not try the hill country of texas we have some of the best roads and trails of any state their is. Close to san antiono austin and the gulf coast. If you have never ridden the hill country you have missed the best in the west.:spyder2::2thumbs:
West?, maybe Southwest...leave the WEST to the Pacific coast lines from CA-Washington with mountains, rolling hills lakes, streams and ocean breezes.
:D

:2thumbs:Camping is definately the way to go, many ares have cabins on site and hotels/motels close by for those less inclined to rough it. It just lends itself to a much friendlier atmosphere. :chat:

Hey Deb, I just figured out how we can do the cruise and ryde, too. We can book a boat on the Erie Canal and take turns towing the boat with our Spyders. :roflblack:

.......OK, back to the drawing board. :D

Denver or New Mexico. Actually, if it was in a non-event type of town the prices would probably be more affordable thus more participation.

I kinda like to hear what the 5 Horseman have to recommend. After all, they've literally been all over the country on those RT's.

Did you say Runways? DRAG STRIP :2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs:

We have a town here that used have an Air Force base. Since it closed they have been hosting hot air balloon fly-ins, skydiving conventions, a huge tractor expo where they actually farm about 350 acres with antique equipment during the show. There is a camp ground and several motels.
Did I mention the runways? Only problem with this area is there isn't really any good places to ride. But if there was something like this in a more scenic area that would be cool.

Bemidji,mn... Knife fights, shootings, collage parties and 3 native american reservations but some awsome roads, better be quick with the steel if you know what I mean. Red lake reservation is the thunderdome, made max style.

For people that want camping, good roads, nature, good hotels ,non corperate restaruants, nice people and a varity of terrain how about north Duluth,MN? the north shore is outstanding for all kinds of riding: being a slow taffic hazard, driving slow, normal driving, quick cornering, code 3, doc level and then of course the seth level.

Thanks for starting this thread, Deb. We're not cruise fans, or big city fans, either. We'd probably avoid that one. We surprised ourselves with Chicago!

Our ideal would probably be an old-fashioned Spyder rally, much like the BMW and Goldwing folks do. A few days of camping (with nearby motels for those who prefer luxury), some good food, gathering together and conversation, some seminars or presentations (maybe they could bring some of their museum exhibits), and a vendor area. Show some movies in the evening, roast a pig (or seven). Add a few organized rides (maybe to a great restaurant for lunch) and some suggestions for "self-guided" tours. It works for the rest of the touring crowd, I think it would attract me.

I'd be more interested in an outdoors type of event, maybe with some camping.

I too am not interested in the big city events either. And something closer to the middle of the country would be nice.... Colorado or Wyoming is beautiful...

Just a thought.

Camping and a big :cus: bbq is the answer, and some where in the mid-west :2thumbs::yes:

Cuba, MO Fest needs to stay just independent as is :2thumbs:
Would not be the same if BRP took over.

No cities, out in the country are many of us spyder owners more the liking. There would of been many more at Chicago, if it wasn't for the city driving.

Two places came to mind when I thought about the next meet; Branson MO, and Banff. Branson should be able to handle the crowd, with plenty to do, and Banff is just a great place to be.

john

Branson is really a busy place during this time period however,,, Len and Gene have several rides incorporated in next years spyderfest in Cuba so having said that I'm sure they can make some type of adjustment and incorporate Branson into a ride, infact Len and Gene if your seeing this I will take the lead on this one,, I LOVE Branson Mo to visit for a day but no place to actually hold a event like this... Yah, I like it... I see a whole lot of good ideas here as I read through this post and there are some really SUPER idea's,, I do agree to the fact that BRP should not in any shape of form take over the event and all the VIP's/CEO and other high officials should STRIP down to Jeans/////T-shirts//////maybe some Leather and enjoy the activity with whats being planned at spyderfest and watch and learn a few things from this event from just a few country boys.... Bring it on Cuba..

Joe

PS: Oh and Jane---- The way I see it you always look nice so if a formal is incorporated one day just come as you are!!!
