There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I was on a short trip to town about, 5 miles, and when I had to hit the brakes for a turn I saw that I had a DPS and check engine light come on. Before I knew it I had a VSS and Brake light come on with the "limp home" message. I went into the store and about a half an hour later I came out expecting to have the same messages come on when I started it, but nothing came up and it was fine all the way back home. I had to go out again a short time later and about 4 or 5 miles down the road had the same messages and "limp home" come on again. I pulled into a parking lot and turned the key off and pulled it out and waited about 1 minute and started it up again and this time just the DPS warning came up but no other messages or "limp home" came up and it ran normally. Made my next stop and it was shut down for maybe 30 minutes and when I started it up again no messages or warnings at all and it ran fine all the way back home. My problem is I can't get back to the dealer until Monday and I have a ryde planned for Saturday. Will I need to cancel the ryde or just go and try to deal with this problem( if it happens again and it probably will) the way I did today, or does someone have any suggestions about what might be causing this intermitent problem? I 've never had this problem before and I am at 54,500 miles.

Thanks for any input!!

Shot in the dark here, Check that the brake fluid isn't a hair low :dontknow:

I had the same thing happen as you tell it. I rode home 75 miles with the "Check DPS" on. The next day, nothing on the screen and I rode 50 mies to my dealer who changed out a small magnet in the DPS, with no problems the last 2,000 miles. I have a 2011 RT-S SE5.

I wondered about that when I hit the brakes the first time I had the issue, but then forgot about it since it was so intermitent. I will check that 1st thing in the morning.

Thanks alot!!

I have to go back to my dealer Monday because an oil leak developed after I had the clutch basket replaced and they checked my valves at the same vist. I cannot pin point where the leak is coming from. I doesn't look like it is coming from the valve covers but can't say with any certainy. Hopefully I will have no more issue until I can get it back to the dealer Monday.

Thanks for your response.

I have an 08 :spyder2:, that shows various codes everytime i ride it !!!!! My dealer shows no interest in fixing this problem other than gladly taking my credit card!!!!!! I no longer pay any attention to the d mn thing as long as as it runs fine which it does. The computer on my :spyder2: is so screwed up it doesn't even remember it is sending out these codes.
According to two different dealers my machine refuses to send them any codes. Ifit stops running I'll deal with it.

You will find that as time passes it does not get any better .... :roflblack:

#1 Check your fuses, 10 amp to the rear lights.
#2 Check that your rear driving/brake lights are still working.

The first Spyder's had issues with loose relays and seeing yours is a08 that would be the first thing I checked, maybe even swap them around.

As several folks have indicated, it pays to check the standard stuff first. Look at the brake fluid level, check the relays and fuses to see that they are seated well, and check the battery connections for tightness and cleanliness. If it happens again, you can check for active fault codes on a GS/RS, with the key turned on, by holding the "Mode" button and simultaneously pressing the "Flash High Beams" button 5 times with 2 seconds. If there are no active fault codes a "No Active Fault Codes" message should appear. Otherwise the numerical codes will scroll across the screen. You can check these in a shop manual or by asking here. Note: if no message appears, repeat the procedure. You need to flash the brights five times fast, or it doesn't work.

That was the problem

Checked my rear running lights and brake light and sure enough they weren't working, so I checked the fuse and it was blown. I put a new one in and took the Spyder out for about a 60 mile ryde and no warnings or messages came up so I'm sure that was the cause of the problem, although I don't really understand why lights not working would give VSS, ABS warning and put the Spyder into limp mode. Why not just display that lights are out......oh well at least I found the problem and thanks to everyone for all the responses that I had to this post. It sure is great to be able to go on these forums with a problem and very often find the solution.:clap:

Thanks again to everyone!!

Take a look under your rear fender to make sure you do not have a wire that came loose and shorted out, blowing the fuse. Fuses seldom blow for no reason.
