You can get some SHIN GUARDS at locAL SPORTING GOOD STORE. keePS HEAT OFF AND GREAT FOR PREVENTING ROAD RASH.
CRAZY BUT WORKS,
TIGER RIDER
Ride how you want. We all know the risks, but I'll put my vote on the mesh pants, even after you get the heat issue taken care of. I'm wearing ATGATT here in Phoenix. It gets really hot at stop lights, with all the cars around baking you nice and crispy. I have found the mesh pant and jacket to be way cooler than a pair of jeans, because it dries you off faster. Being fully exposed to the hot wind and sun is way more miserable, than gearing up for me. I do have to flip my modular helmet up though in traffic. There just no air movement there without motion.
The likelihood of falling over on the spyder is of course way less. Padding won't do much when a car crushes your leg, but if you happen to find yourself in a skid on pavement, the gear will definitely save skin. I crashed my pedal bike at 15mph and skid 5 or so feet and woke up in the hospital with huge chunks of flesh missing and knees the size of cantelopes. I can't even get on the spyder without ATGATT.
I guess I'm one of the scared ones, but I would have the nerve to ride any other way. I just know the gear is cooler than no gear, based on the few times I took it around the block after working on it.
I see most people riding without any gear at all, since we don't even have helmet laws here. That's fine by me. The gear just seems to be more than just a safety issue, but obviously most around this state disagree.

Mist in the face and on the legs would be awesome. Sign me up when you invent it!
They sell of them that the vendors can carry in Walt Disney World. A spray bottle with a fan... It doesn't seem as if it'd be too difficult to drop a small fishbowl-type pump ( Maybe a 12 volt model designed for baitwells...), into one of them and wire it all up to a handy push-switch! :2thumbs:
It is cooler to wear mesh pants than jeans in the sun or hot weather, and they keep the right leg cooler (especially on an RT). Try them sometime, you'll be surprised...I was. A friend from Florida turn me on to mesh....I still fail to see the need for cordura or mesh pants when on a spyder...the types of issues on a spyder are not the same as being on a two wheeler (like your bicycle)...
Well I'll just say I agree, no shorts. But a pair of ALL mesh pants (not overpants) commando underneath beats shorts anyday
That said, Try a fan can from ISCI. Helps a bunch. Spyderpops heat management system also helps in a different way. I even know people who have both all mixed and matched.
Anyhow, on the shorts thing, you were right to assume you'd catch some flak for that, but please don't dismiss it. We're not saying it for OUR sake.
No place hotter than AZ in the summer! I have heard about vests and bandanas that can be soaked in water and then worn on top of T shirts or under other gear. Do these help? Melting in Tucson!
