• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I took this Belt Vibration Damper off a 2016 RTL - did they change for 2014+?

I am confused, which is not hard for me anymore. Anyway, I took this damper off a 2016 RTL. Can I safely assume that the damper has changed for 2014 and up?

If I was going to put one on, I would go with an aftermarket billet Alum, not that plastic framed one you have there. Just my 2 cents! :dontknow: As far as the fit, don't have a clue, never wanted to get that close to one of them.

Mikey, It is not plastic. Is metal, just different than the new model.

New version on left

My damper on the right.

The dampener on the right is the BRP version which can be updated with the larger roller from Lamonster. That is what I have on my 2020 RTL.

I believe that at one time Lamonster also sold the OEM version with his improved roller/bearing combination. I could be mistaken on that though.

"I took this Belt Vibration Damper off ..."

Bless you, my son!

Ron, Actually Peter changed it before my brain caught up with what I wrote. Again, thank you for keeping us on the straight and narrow.

Hmmm. Well, just like Don Quixote, those of us who tilt at windmills are happy with the slightest suggestion of progress! Though we never expect victory.

I apologize for the highjack...

Since we're being technical - I think the word wanted is "damper" - "Dampeners" make things wet. AFAIK, "dampner" isn't a word in English.

What's a tensioner pulley? It's a thingy that kinda looks like a dampner, a dampener or a damper. Or could it be the damthing that stops your drive belt from vibrating and driving you crazy? He!! I don't know I'm just guessing here. :dontknow: :roflblack:

Dampner

A 'dampner' is a device used to reduce pulsations in a (usually) hydraulic system. This differs from a 'damper' which is a (usually hydraulic) device used to damp vibrations in a physical system that the hydraulics are connected to...

Aside from in English, it's also a 'Middle French' word (verb) which means 'to damn' as in 'May God damn you!‎'

Or if you want to delve into 'street slang' (back in English again) then a 'dampner' is also internet slang used to describe something that or a person who brings down the mood or dampens the enthusiasm of others... ie. a restrainer, suppressor, or (funnily enough :p ) a moderator. :doorag:

Just Sayin' ;)

So now, let's get back onto the ACTUAL topic of this thread...
