The Premiere Edition RTSs that were pre-ordered came with a 5th Generation Nano. I love it! I suspect the newest Nano would also work very well, but I have not tried one. They are about half the size of the 5th Gen. If you get one, be sure to get a screen protector and a case with a screen cover. I doubt banging around in the cargo compartment would do the touch screen any good.
I am wanting to upgrade from the 2nd generation I pod to the I pod nano. Has anyone tried the Nano on a 2010 RT I Pod acc. Plug in? The 2nd gen. I Pod plays but does not appear on dash display.
My 2011 RT came with an iPod connector as well as a headphone connector. iPhone and iPod work fine but since the iPod Shuffle uses only a headphone connector, it won't let you change songs or playlists. Went back to using iPod.Here's hoping the next gen shuffle has the ipod connection. That would be perfect for the trunk. I have the latest Nano as well, works fine.

My question is - When the power is switched off from my Spyder Does this switch the iPod off as well or do I have to manually
switch the iPod off - The screen of the iPod is off but I'm not sure if the music is still running in the background and if it is
would this do any long term damage to the iPod
Perhaps there is a setting on the iPod that will switch it off once power from the cable is off - If so does anyone know how to set the
iPod to go off once the power from the Spyders ignition is off
The iPod (at least my Gen 5 Nano) goes into standby (off) mode when the key is turned off, and it charged though the iPod cable. When you start back up, it resumes right where you left off.My question is - When the power is switched off from my Spyder Does this switch the iPod off as well or do I have to manually

What you say is puzzling. I'll agree that the unit goes into standby instead of a true off, but it does seem to charge. I have put mine on the cable, with a partial charge, and it has a fully charged battery the next day without running the engine. I have also left it in the Spyder for weeks at a time without riding, during the winter, and it maintained a charge. If left on the countertop for that amount of time, it will go dead. Maybe there are differences between different iPod models, or maybe I'm just lucky? :dontknow:Just to clarify, the iPod does not power down and the :spyder2: does not continue to charge thru the iPod adaptor when the key is turned off. The only time any iPod/iPhone/iPad unit is powered down is when you hold the standby button in for a few seconds and an option will come up on screen requiring you to swipe it to power down. Otherwise, the units will continue to consume power, so don't be surprised if your iPod battery shows less life after leaving it sit for awhile.
