• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I NEED SOME HELP WITH A MEASUREMENT !

BLUEKNIGHT911

Sadly Passed Oct 2024 - RIP
Hi, Mike here, I'm the guy building the Lightest Combo Spyder hauler/camper/ trailer in the World and I would really appreciate if someone could do me a kindness/favor ( you need to have an RT ) and measure across the rear so I can find out how WIDE the saddle bags are ??????...My trl. will be carrying an RT inside and I made a grid / layout of the floor and now I am making a scale size footprint of the RT. The width of the bags is the only thing I can't find....THANKS again.............Mike :2excited: :thumbup::thumbup:..........Thanks to all, I have what I need and I can now proceed further with the build.......PS tours will be given at Spyderfest 2013..:spyder::2thumbs::2excited:

Approximately 40". Have you searched the Web or the BRP site to find one of the overhead view photos? They are a great way to scale things down to check fit. That's what I did when trying to figure garage space allocation. BTW, it was mighty cold when I went out in the grage to measure. I hope you appreciate it...LOL. ;)

Heck, Scotty, it's only 45 degrees up there. You wimp. :roflblack:

:agree: its 39 an i was just out for a ride its so nice out! lol had to go get some milk.

I think that most of us could use that! :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

hey roger

do you have one of those measured drawings of a gs? that would be nice to keep:thumbup:

The 39 was a derived number from the pixel count.
I'd use Scotty's 40 if you are building something that is critical.

Don't use my number, either. There is a reason I said "approximately". I did not set up a couple of squares and measure. I held the tape measure above the seat and eyeballed it. Probably pretty close, but your method may have been just as accurate. If it is critical (I hope not, because I really believe in wiggle room), it should be measured more precisely than either of these methods allow.

Hey Mike,
It sounds like both Scotty and Roger and trying to hedge their bets...
Leave room for 60" of width... you might have some space around it; but that's just a buffer zone!

Once in a great while, a thought will occur to me...
Why is Mike asking for RT measurements? Is he planning to switch teams or something??
Has anybody told Randy about this?? :roflblack:

Bob, Deanna777 has an RT....So I haven't firmed up yet which one is going in the trailer and which one is going in the back of the truck.........Wait till you see ( sic ) the " cradle " design I came up with for the Spyder.....It goes into the trk bed first...then the Spyder goes in -- backwards --, (only way it will work) .....the cradle will take all pressure off the tail gate from the front wheels.....it also gives me someting to mount the winch to, for pulling the Spyder in.......No way I'm driving it in Backwards......:shemademe_smilie:.......:gaah:....:agree:....:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: Mike

A normal windshield comes off easier on the RS, but yours may not. The windshield should be removed for towing backwards...several have been broken when they were not. Put the one where the windshield is easiest to remove in the truck, and the other in the trailer. BTW, the RT is heavier, so it is more load in the truck bed (approaching the load limit) reducing the allowable tongue weight. The RS in the truck is a better bet.

I see you must have seen the Video from S.I.T.A.:roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack: :2excited:....and yes I have been thinking about all the weights of everything and where they are positioned....I am almost at the point of purchasing the aluminum frame materials and starting to put this together......You will be camping at Spyderfest correct ?????????........Mike & Dee....:ohyea:

No, we have been motel wimps. We ride down instead of tow, and the RT-622 is more practical than the Aspen Sentry camper.

THIS IS BAD NEWS

BILL GATES DOES NOT LIVE WITH ME

Balsa wood is extremely strong for its weight.

Yes Doug it is....It also absorbs water ( very bad ) and probably cost 10 x what 2 inch thick pink foam board costs..........Do you happen to be one of those Lucky fellows who owns/can afford one of the $ 150,000 + Toy hauler camper RV's I've been shown on this Post ???????????.........:bowdown: :gaah: :agree: :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: Mike
