• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

You can go 5-7 days without water before your bodily functions shut down. Coffee does not hydrate you. Good luck with whatever it is you're trying to do. There are other ways to get rid of your spare tire.

I drink (water) 1/2 my body weight in ounces, and have no spare tire.

Your body gets liquid from whatever you drink. You don't have to drink water to survive your body has a digestive system that can break down many liquids to its base substance. You can drink nothing but soda for months and you won't die. You get moisture from foods and drinks no just water.

PER the Mayo Clinic.
[h=3]What about the advice to drink 8 glasses a day?[/h]
Everyone has heard the advice, "Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day." That's about 1.9 liters, which isn't that different from the Institute of Medicine recommendations. Although the "8 by 8" rule isn't supported by hard evidence, it remains popular because it's easy to remember. Just keep in mind that the rule should be reframed as: "Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of fluid a day," because all fluids count toward the daily total.

[h=3]Beyond the tap: Other sources of water[/h]
You don't need to rely only on what you drink to meet your fluid needs. What you eat also provides a significant portion of your fluid needs. On average, food provides about 20 percent of total water intake. For example, many fruits and vegetables, such as watermelon and spinach, are 90 percent or more water by weight.

In addition, beverages such as milk and juice are composed mostly of water. Even beer, wine and caffeinated beverages — such as coffee, tea or soda — can contribute, but these should not be a major portion of your daily total fluid intake. Water is still your best bet because it's calorie-free, inexpensive and readily available.

Since the OP was trying to lose weight, drinking nothing but soda would probably have the opposite effect. I agree, your body gets liquid from many sources, and I was incorrect for saying what I did. I'll stick to water though since it does increase your metabolism, and doesn't really lead to weight gain, and is the best source. Also, I have found that the Mayo Clinic studies are not always correct; I'm not specifically talking water intake.

Here's another article that states the best source of fluid replenishment is water:

I think different folks require different amounts of water... too much water can rid the body of important compounds .. it might be wise to talk to your doctor to find out what is good for your body ...

I agree that drinking soda is a bad idea for weight loss. I didn't suggest he drink any soda to lose weight. He wouldn't die from it unless he had other medical issues. In the USAF they forced us to drink 6 glasses of water before every meal in basic training. I lost 35 pounds in basic training from drinking that much water. Within hours of eating I was starved because I had filled up on water. The USAF also killed a few people with that and has since changed those rules. Too much water can also kill you if you don't have the needed nutrients in your system.
I think we can agree a balance of foods and drink is the best.

It's not only how much; it's also how quickly, and can lead to water intoxication and death. I did discuss it with my doctor; good point.

Jim's_Spyder,

Didn't see your last post until I posted mine.

hmmmm

I don't have a doctor..unless it's the one that meets me in the emergency room..

Y'all have a good day, I'm off to work

true story, i was at my blood doctor today. he is a really cool guy and my pressure and my A1C for my blood sugar is doing fantastic. i complained to him that i am gaining weight and was there a drug on the market to help me lose weight. he told me that there was no really good med. to help speed up my metabolism and that i am gaining weight because my blood sugars are doing so well. now me being me, i said to him that years ago i would go and buy some illegal drugs and after a few days of no sleep i would manage to lose a ton of weight. he highly recommended that i don't do that, by the way i was in my early 20's when i would do that, i take enough pills now that are prescription that would chock a horse.

so i guess what i am saying is, i am destine to be a fat, old, ugly and single old man. there is no fast weight loss with out hurting yourself
